President Abbas will deliver an important speech at the United Nations next month
The Permanent Representative of the State of Palestine to the United Nations, Riyad Mansour , said today, Sunday, that "President Mahmoud Abbas will deliver an important speech during his participation in the commemoration of the Nakba at the United Nations next month."
Mansour added, "The United Nations will commemorate, for the first time, at its headquarters, the 75th anniversary of the Nakba, on the fifteenth of next May."
He stressed that this step has a political significance regarding the right to self-determination and the implementation of UN Resolution 194 on refugees.
Mansour said: "The United Nations realized and recognized this catastrophe that befell the Palestinian people and the need to revive it in the General Assembly, one of the largest halls of the United Nations."
He pointed out that an open ministerial session will be held in the Security Council on the 25th of this month, to be chaired by the President of the Security Council, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, and with the participation of Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyad Al-Maliki.
Mansour noted that the ministerial session will address all issues, including the attacks that took place on the Palestinian people, what happened in Al-Aqsa Mosque, the Holy Mosque and the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, and the attacks that took place on the West Bank.
