"Jabal Mukaber" crowned with the "Martyr Yasser Arafat" trophy
Last night, "Jabal Al-Mukaber" club was crowned the "Martyr Yasser Arafat" Football Cup, after defeating "Balata Center" with a goal without a response, in the match that brought them together at the Martyr Faisal Al-Husseini Stadium in the town of Al-Ram, north of occupied Jerusalem.
Zaid Qanbar scored the only goal of the match with a beautiful header in the 27th minute of the first half, so that “Jabal Al Mukaber” kept the cup in its coffers after winning the title last season, and also crowned the Professional League title for this season.
The match was stopped for more than 30 minutes, after the Israeli occupation forces stormed the stadium’s perimeter and fired a barrage of tear gas canisters at the stadium and the stands, which led to the suffocation of a number of players and fans, including children.
The toxic gas bombs reached the dressing rooms during the presence of the players of the two teams between the two halves of the match, which led to the injury of a number of them to suffocation, and the fans were forced to leave the stands and go down to the field to take refuge from the gas bombs.
Local sources indicated that three injured were taken to the hospital, while the rest of the injuries were treated inside the stadium by the medical staff of the Football Association and the Palestinian Red Crescent ambulance crews.
Despite the vicious attack by the occupation forces, the Palestinian Football Association, the arbitration staff, the management of the two teams and the players decided to resume the match.
The "Jabal Al Mukaber" club gave the title to its captive player Ahmed Abu Khadija, who was arrested by the Israeli occupation forces on the third of March.
