The Commission of Prisoners' Affairs and Freed Prisoners warned, on Sunday, of the escalation of hostile and retaliatory policies adopted by the administration of Al-Damon prison in dealing with Palestinian female detainees, and the immoral and inhumane treatment followed by the prison guards, who are trying to inflict all forms of physical and psychological harm on them.

The Commission explained, in a statement, that the visits carried out recently by its legal team to Al-Damon prison documented the seriousness of the crime committed by the prison administration, as there is a great focus on psychological torture of female detainees, represented by the constant threat of rape, strip searches, insults, cursing, beatings, starvation, and the continued deprivation of blankets, clothes, cleaning materials, disinfectants, and women's needs, and ignoring their health and medical conditions, and using excessive moodiness in providing medications and treatment.

It pointed out that collective punishment of female detainees is being carried out continuously, including being deprived of showering from time to time, closing the rooms, preventing them from going out to the recreation area, and any discussion or inquiry from any female detainee with the prison administration police could cost the entire prison a raid, abuse, torture, and humiliation.

The Commission called on women's institutions, associations, and local, regional, and international unions to cooperate truly to expose the ongoing violations against female detainees, and to work in an organized and integrated manner to form a pressing female public opinion, which may have real effects in ending the isolation of them and breaking the occupation's policies of taking revenge on Palestinian women.
