Fatah movement said that prisoner Marwan Barghouti, a member of the movement's Central Committee and a member of the Palestinian Central Council, is being subjected to an assassination attempt by a decision of the Israeli occupation government.

The Central Committee of the Fatah Movement condemned what it called “the repeated brutal attacks against the brave prisoners, headed by the leader Marwan Barghouti, who was once again subjected to a sinful attack at a time when the rest of his brothers and sisters, the prisoners, are being subjected to the most severe and horrific attacks and atrocities, including isolation, beatings, and complete deprivation of treatment, food, and the most basic human rights stipulated in international conventions.”

The Fatah Central Committee stated in a statement on Sunday evening, “In light of the ongoing war of genocide against our people in the Gaza Strip, the extremist occupation authorities are committing brutal massacres away from the cameras against our brave prisoners in the occupation prisons.”

In its statement, it stressed that “what Marwan Barghouti was subjected to is nothing but an attempt to liquidate him by a decision of an extremist occupation government whose only agenda is to kill Palestinians wherever they are.”

The Fatah Central Committee pointed out that the occupation government “ignored all protests and condemnations issued by the relevant popular, official and international institutions, which in turn monitored thousands of violations and transgressions practiced by the Netanyahu government against prisoners and leaders of the prisoner movement.”

She warned that “harming the life of leader Marwan Barghouti and the rest of the captive leaders and the entire captive movement will move the confrontation with the occupation to an escalating stage of tension and explosion, especially with the intensity of killing and slaughter practiced by the Tel Aviv government in the prisons, and what the northern Gaza Strip and all of Palestine are witnessing of a raging holocaust that has exceeded all borders and covenants.”
