Gideon Levy writes about Israel's brutality
Writer Gideon Levy said in his column in the Israeli newspaper Haaretz that one of the worst things caused by the October 7 attack is Israel's loss of its humanity in a way that makes it almost impossible to regain.
Levy added that Israel can now do anything to the Palestinians, even unleash dogs on people with special needs.
The writer started with what happened to the young man Muhammad Salah Bahar (25 years old) who has special needs (Down syndrome) and lived in the Shuja'iyya neighborhood, and who was unleashed by Israeli soldiers with a dog that tore his body apart, then left him to die, and his mother heard his screams that did not touch the heart of anyone in Israel, version 2024, according to Levy.
He continued that the mother was unable to save her son after the soldiers forcibly removed her from the house and forced her to abandon him, and left the place, leaving Muhammad Bahar to bleed to death, for the family to discover his decomposed body a week later when they returned home.
The Israeli writer explained that the limbs of Palestinian prisoners were amputated inside the Sde Teiman prison, due to their hands being tied for several months, and due to torture. He added that the death of young people - due to torture or lack of medical care and food - has become routine.
He also said that if it were not for the Public Committee Against Torture, there would be no protest against this in Israel, which no longer wants to hear such news, and anyone who talks about it is anti-Semitic.
Levy explained that even Adolf Eichmann was treated "humanely" and no one imagined that he would be bound or blindfolded for several months, or that he would be mauled by dogs.
Eichmann is considered one of the most famous Nazis responsible for deporting Jews to death camps in Poland. He was tasked with developing a plan to exterminate the Jews of Europe, and his life ended with execution by hanging in 1962 after he was kidnapped by the Mossad and tried in Israel.
