Jordan: The continued aggression against Gaza is pushing the region towards further escalation

Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi said today, Sunday, that his country continues to take all necessary steps to protect its security and sovereignty, stressing that stopping the escalation is a regional and international necessity, which requires the Security Council to assume its responsibilities in protecting security and peace, and imposing a cessation of the aggression against Gaza.

The Jordanian News Agency (Petra) quoted Al-Safadi as saying, “The continuation of the aggression is pushing the region towards further regional escalation, the repercussions of which will threaten regional and international security and stability.”

The Jordanian minister stressed that his country will not allow anyone to expose its security or the safety of its people to any danger.

Al-Safadi said, “Stopping the Israeli aggression on Gaza, and beginning to implement a comprehensive plan to end the Israeli occupation, and achieve a just peace based on the two-state solution, is the way to stop the dangerous escalation that the region is witnessing.”

He also stressed the need for concerted international efforts to reduce the escalation and protect the entire region from its consequences.

Jordan announced the opening of its airspace on Sunday, after closing it late yesterday, with Iran launching drone and missile attacks on Israel. Jordanian state television, citing aviation authorities, reported that Jordan had resumed air transport operations. The opening of Jordanian airspace came more than 3 hours before the scheduled time.
