The Israeli occupation army has officially admitted the authenticity of circulating images documenting the brutal torture of a Palestinian prisoner in the Gaza Strip by its forces. The leaked footage showed the detainee lying on the ground in a humiliating position, blindfolded and with hands tied with wires, while an iron rod was placed over his back in a scene that reflects the extent of physical and psychological abuses suffered by prisoners inside the occupation's detention centers.
Official media sources affiliated with the occupation army quoted a military spokesman confirming that these scenes are real and indeed occurred during military operations within the Strip. The spokesman claimed that the military command has opened an investigation to ascertain the circumstances of the incident and identify those involved, in an attempt to absorb the escalating human rights and international anger resulting from the leakage of these documents that condemn the behavior of field soldiers.
The image was leaked to the public after an Israeli soldier named 'Joseph Benamo' brazenly posted it on his personal Instagram account, accompanied by the phrase 'Good morning' in Hebrew. Although the soldier later deleted the image and closed his account after its widespread dissemination, the incident sparked a wide wave of condemnation and was considered conclusive evidence of war crimes committed against civilians and detainees.
For its part, the human rights organization 'Breaking the Silence' commented on the incident, affirming that this abuse represents the actual policy of the occupation on the ground and is not merely isolated individual actions. The organization clarified that the Israeli army follows a policy of covering up criminals, as it had previously reinstated soldiers accused of torture into military service despite medical reports proving they caused fractures and punctures in the lungs of detainees due to severe beatings.
Human rights data coming from detention centers indicates a catastrophic situation, with reports confirming the martyrdom of more than one hundred Palestinians since October 2023 after being arrested alive, only to return later in body bags. These figures confirm that what is leaked in images and videos represents only a small part of the bitter reality experienced by thousands of Palestinian prisoners in secret and public prisons and detention camps.
These practices resulting from abduction and abuse represent the actual policy of the occupation, and are merely the tip of the iceberg.
