UN Reveals Displacement of 40,000 Palestinians in West Bank Since Early 2025

The United Nations has revealed serious statistical data reflecting the deterioration of humanitarian conditions in the occupied West Bank, where the Deputy Spokesperson for the Secretary-General, Farhan Haq, confirmed that the occupation policies have led to the displacement of thousands of citizens. The UN official explained that approximately 40,000 Palestinians have been forced to leave their homes and lands since the beginning of 2025, as a result of the pressures exerted on them and the escalating pace of demolitions.

The first week of May witnessed a remarkable escalation in targeting the Palestinian presence on the ground, with the international organization documenting the displacement of 42 new citizens. Among those displaced during this short period were 24 children, indicating a direct targeting of the most vulnerable groups as part of a systematic policy aimed at terrorizing Palestinian families and undermining their social and material stability.

UN sources reported that attacks by armed settlers have become an imminent daily threat in various cities and villages of the West Bank, with these attacks occurring under the direct cover and protection of the occupation army. These attacks vary between property destruction and physical assault, extending to the demolition of homes and vital facilities that Palestinian families rely on for their basic livelihoods.

Farhan Haq stressed in his press statements that these practices fall within a strategic plan targeting Palestinians as the indigenous inhabitants of the region, in a clear attempt to change the demographic and geographical reality of the occupied territories. He considered that the continuation of these policies represents a blatant violation of international conventions that prohibit the forced transfer of populations in territories under military occupation.

These UN warnings highlight the silent tragedy in the West Bank, at a time when international attention is focused on the ongoing aggression in the Gaza Strip. The sources called for urgent and effective international intervention to stop the crimes of demolition and displacement, and to ensure the protection of Palestinian civilians and their property from the aggression of settlers and occupation forces who disregard all humanitarian laws.

Occupation authorities have forced approximately 40,000 Palestinians to flee their homes and lands since the beginning of last year until today.
