Boniface: Criticizing Israel does not mean being anti-Semitic, and the Gaza war reveals the failures of the West.

The French leftist thinker and international expert on geopolitical changes, Pascal Boniface, is considered one of the most prominent French and Western intellectuals and politicians who have been criticizing Israeli occupation policies and the bias of senior European media figures and government and security officials towards the Israeli colonial narrative for a quarter of a century.

Boniface published a book a quarter of a century ago that caused him many problems titled: "Can We Criticize Israel?".. Pascal Boniface has authored more than eighty books on international relations, American-Israeli and Atlantic wars, "hostility to Islam," "Islamophobia," and the confusion between Arab Islamic thought and the phenomena of "anti-Semitism" and "justifying war crimes" committed by the occupying authorities against the Palestinian people.

Pascal Boniface was forced to withdraw from the French Socialist Party and Parliament due to his opposition to the occupation policies during Ariel Sharon's era and his reservations about the campaigns targeting the Egyptian-European thinker Tariq Ramadan and all symbols of "political Islam" from religious and cultural racist and colonial perspectives.

On the occasion of the release of Boniface's new book on "Israel and Palestine," he visited Tunisia and gave lectures accompanied by discussions with a number of Arab and foreign intellectuals about his books and developments in occupied Palestine and the region, some at the cultural center affiliated with the French embassy in Tunisia and others at Tunisian universities and publishing houses.

The French leftist thinker Pascal Boniface announced that among the weaknesses in the current relations between France and Western countries on one side and Tunisia and the Arab Islamic world on the other is the "misjudgment" of decision-makers in Northern countries regarding the concerns of Southern countries in general and particularly Arab Islamic countries.

Boniface highlighted the dangers of the current expansionist projects of the Israeli occupying authorities, which he accused of being involved in a genocidal war and a horrific "live" massacre against the Palestinian people in general, especially in the occupied Gaza Strip.

The French thinker noted that a significant segment of the youth, intellectuals, and elites he met at Tunisian universities and several research centers, including the government French cultural center in Tunisia, expressed "dismay" at what they considered the confusion in French and Western media between Islam as thought, civilization, and peoples, and extremism and terrorism.

Alongside the confusion between the Jews of the world and the policies of the current Israeli government involved in killing tens of thousands of Palestinian civilians, starving them, and extending a comprehensive siege imposed on them for more than twenty years.

Pascal Boniface considered that this confusion deepens the crises in the region and the world and hinders Western capitals from taking "practical and immediate steps" to stop the war immediately in Gaza and the West Bank and the risks of its expansion.

The French thinker, who is an expert in several global geopolitical and military research centers, noted that "French and Western media have been biased against Arab and Muslim issues for decades."

He linked the failures of French and Western foreign policy in the Arab and Islamic world to the failure to reach a fair settlement for the liberation of Palestine.

He also explained these failures by the relationships of France and Western countries with Southern countries based on the preconceived positions of decision-makers towards Islam and national liberation movements and what is called "Jewish-Christian cultural and intellectual references" and "Western modernity."

The French thinker criticized the demonization of the intellectual and cultural background of all Palestinian national movements.

He warned against the exacerbation of the phenomenon of "confusion between secularism and hostility to Islam... between the right to criticize Israeli colonial policies and attacking all Jews and all Westerners."

Despite the participation of millions of young people and Western citizens and Jews in movements against the wars of the Israeli government and its partners in occupied Palestine and the entire region.

Boniface noted that "millions of Palestinians have been bombed and killed for a quarter of a century in public while they are in a 'large open prison'... and they cannot emigrate unlike the victims of other bloody wars.

The risks have escalated since October 2023 with the onset of an unprecedented genocidal war in the fiercely besieged Gaza Strip.

The situation has become more complicated and rotten during Donald Trump's era after years of the "duality" of Biden's administration policies, which faced "criticisms" of Netanyahu's government and its wars but continued to send it weapons and funding.

What are the geopolitical dimensions of the current war in occupied Palestine and the entire region?

And is it expected that the new global recognition of the Palestinian state will lead to a fundamental change in international relations and in the opportunities for war and peace in

Hamas condemns Abbas's call to hand over the resistance's weapons.

The Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) condemned Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas's call before the United Nations General Assembly to hand over the weapons of resistance, asserting that the only way to confront the Israeli occupation's projects of extermination and displacement is through national consensus on a comprehensive struggle program.

The movement stated in a statement published on Thursday evening that resistance is "a national and moral responsibility that derives its legitimacy from our steadfast Palestinian people, and from their natural right to resist occupation, as recognized by international laws and conventions. We absolutely reject the President's alignment with the false Zionist narrative that attempts to distort it by accusing it of targeting civilians."

The statement emphasized that "all attempts to impose guardianship over our people and their will will fail." Hamas viewed the Palestinian Authority President's assertion that the movement would have no role in governance as an infringement on the legitimate right of our Palestinian people to determine their own fate and choose their rulers, and as an unacceptable submission to external dictates and projects.

The movement stressed that "the weapons of resistance cannot be touched as long as the occupation is entrenched on our land and in the hearts of our people, and we condemn the President's demand to hand them over, especially in light of what our people in the Gaza Strip are facing from a brutal extermination war, and the crimes and barbaric assaults committed by armed settlers and the occupation army against unarmed civilians in the occupied West Bank."

Abbas called on Hamas and other resistance factions to hand over their weapons to the Palestinian Authority, and he reiterated his rejection of what the movement did on October 7, 2023, in targeting Israeli civilians and taking them hostage, according to his statement.

The Palestinian President delivered his speech at the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly via video after the United States refused to grant him a visa to participate in the assembly's proceedings in New York.

Since October 2023, Israel - with American support - has been waging a war of extermination against the residents of the Gaza Strip, involving killing, starvation, destruction, and forced displacement, ignoring international calls to stop the war and orders from the International Court of Justice in this regard.

The extermination has resulted in more than 65,000 martyrs and 167,000 injured, with 440 Palestinians, including 147 children, having died due to starvation, according to the latest statistics from the Ministry of Health in Gaza.

Hebrew media: Netanyahu may be forced to allow the Palestinian Authority to manage Gaza.

Close associates of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Thursday that his government may ultimately have to allow the Palestinian Authority to manage the Gaza Strip, as part of the plan being pushed by U.S. President Donald Trump's administration.

The official broadcasting agency reported, citing unnamed associates of Netanyahu, that his government will eventually have to allow the Palestinian Authority to manage the Gaza Strip "because this is part of a plan formulated by Washington."

Netanyahu's government had previously set five conditions for ending the war in Gaza: the disarmament of "Hamas," the return of both living and deceased prisoners, the demilitarization of Gaza, Israel's security control over it, and the establishment of a civilian administration that is not affiliated with "Hamas" or the Palestinian Authority.

The occupation's foreign minister attacks President Abbas's speech and describes his offer of governance in Gaza as "ridiculous."

The Foreign Minister of the occupying state, Gidon Sa'ar, strongly attacked the speech delivered by Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas before the United Nations General Assembly on Thursday, describing the president's announcement of his readiness to take over the administration of Gaza after the war as "ridiculous."

In a series of tweets on the platform "X," Sa'ar said: "Mahmoud Abbas said he is ready to take over the Gaza Strip, which he easily lost to Hamas in 2007, how kind of him!"

Sa'ar accused President Abbas of failing to commit to "fighting terrorism," considering this to be "the fundamental commitment on which the Palestinian Authority was established."

He added that the Authority "continues to encourage violence by paying salaries to militants and their families."

Sa'ar also warned Western countries about what he described as the duality in President Abbas's speech, saying: "Mahmoud Abbas says nice words to the West, but his people are supposed to draw conclusions from the 'key' pin he wears on his suit's lapel."

Sa'ar considered this pin to be "a symbol of drowning the occupying state with the descendants of the Arabs who left the country in 1948, and the extermination of the occupying state."

The Foreign Minister of the occupying state concluded his tweet by stating that "the occupying state will not be deceived again."

Gideon Levy: Recognition without halting the genocide and settlement is an empty gift.

Israeli writer Gideon Levy criticized the recent wave of international recognition of the Palestinian state, stating that it does not change anything about the reality of occupation, genocide, and settlement.

In an opinion piece in the Israeli newspaper Haaretz, he wrote that on the day 10 Western countries announced their joining 159 countries that recognized the State of Palestine, settlers were attacking a Palestinian village in the eastern West Bank, stealing dozens of sheep and beating an elderly shepherd (81 years old) and his grandson with sticks until they broke both of his arms, without regard for his old age, while the Israeli police falsely accused the victims of being the ones who stole from the settlers.

Levy points out that the recognition of the State of Palestine has not prevented the ongoing genocide in the Gaza Strip, where dozens of Palestinians are killed daily for months, and it has not changed anything about the reality of the siege and destruction.

The irony that the writer sees is that the recognition of the Palestinian state "has not and will not save even one child in Gaza from bombing," adding that the besieged strip is no longer suitable for human life, and the situation of Palestinians in the West Bank is gradually heading in the same direction.

Levy noted that Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas was not even allowed to attend the United Nations conference on the two-state solution, in a blatant violation by Washington of its agreement with the UN organization.

He said that the state, which he believes is in the process of formation and is almost recognized by the entire world, will only be able to participate in United Nations General Assembly meetings via video link, while "the number one wanted by the International Criminal Court" will deliver his speech from the podium, referring to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

It is worth mentioning that Netanyahu is wanted by international justice on charges of committing war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.

The writer believes that the world's recognition, especially from "self-righteous" Europe, is nothing more than "empty rhetoric" directed at the victims of Gaza and the West Bank, while genocide continues unabated and settlers wreak havoc in the West Bank with the participation of the occupation army.

He adds sarcastically that heads of state can now reassure themselves and their angry citizens by saying: "We have punished the criminal and rewarded the victim. We no longer need to exert effort for Gaza; we have done our duty."

He goes on to say that all Israeli parties, even those in opposition, united in condemning the recognition, claiming that it is an expression of anti-Semitism.

Levy concludes that recognizing a Palestinian state under the current circumstances is "ridiculous and insane," emphasizing that there is no real partner for a two-state solution either in Israel or in Palestine, and that the West Bank has become nothing but scattered islands under occupation, while Gaza is destroyed.

Levy stated that real salvation requires the immediate imposition of strict sanctions on Israel, or adopting a long-term vision based on "democracy for all people from the Jordan River to the Mediterranean Sea."

Gaza is being exterminated.. Israel launches 170 airstrikes in 24 hours.

The Israeli army announced on Thursday that it had carried out 170 airstrikes on the Gaza Strip in the past 24 hours, as part of the genocide it has been committing against the Palestinians for two years.

The army stated in a statement: "The air force struck more than 170 targets across the Gaza Strip in the last 24 hours."

For two years, the Israeli army claims to target military objectives, while it actually targets Palestinian civilians, bombarding homes with their inhabitants and striking civilian institutions, including hospitals, schools, and aid distribution centers.

The statement added: "The forces of the 162nd Division continue to fight deep in the city of Gaza, where they attacked several infrastructure sites."

The army claimed that the targeted infrastructure in the city of Gaza "was used to set ambushes aimed at Israeli army forces in the area."

It continued: "Simultaneously, the forces of the 98th Division attacked about 20 targets in the area," in addition to attacks from the 36th Division.

It further stated: "In the northern sector, the forces of the 99th Division are working to destroy infrastructure above and below ground," claiming to have destroyed "an ambush site where explosive devices were found."

On September 21, the Israeli army announced the deepening of its ground operations in the city of Gaza, as part of a plan approved by its government to gradually occupy the sector, which began to be implemented on August 11 with a wide attack on the city.

Since dawn on Thursday, the Israeli army has killed 19 Palestinians and injured dozens in the Gaza Strip, through air and artillery bombardments, including 11 Palestinians who were killed in an airstrike on a populated house in the town of Al-Zawayda in Deir al-Balah in the center of the sector.

According to eyewitnesses and medical sources, the bombardment resulted in the deaths of 19 Palestinians.

With American support, Israel has been committing genocide in Gaza since October 7, 2023, resulting in 65,419 deaths and 167,160 injuries, most of whom are children and women, and famine that has claimed the lives of 442 Palestinians, including 147 children.

The Hell of the Checkpoints in Jerusalem and the West Bank: Objectives, Effects, and Implications

Ismail Al-Muslimani

Ismail Al-Muslimani

Opinion Writer

The West Bank and Jerusalem have witnessed a serious escalation in recent years, characterized by the intensification of military gates and barriers established by the occupying authorities, as part of a systematic policy to control the movement of Palestinians and restrict their geographical, social, and economic connectivity. By mid-2025, the number of military barriers and gates in the West Bank reached 898, including 18 new gates erected since the beginning of that year. In the city of Jerusalem and its suburbs alone, the occupation has established about 88 iron gates, reflecting a deliberate trend to turn these tools into a comprehensive system of siege. These gates are no longer merely "temporary" security measures as the occupation claims, but have become part of the permanent infrastructure that reshapes Palestinian geography to serve the goals of control and isolation, as they hinder Palestinians' access to schools, workplaces, and hospitals, turning their daily lives into a continuous hell.

The implications of this policy are profound, creating a psychologically and socially oppressive reality. On one hand, residents suffer from a loss of freedom and dignity due to their daily searches and humiliation at these barriers, leading to a buildup of anger and frustration. On the other hand, the closure of the gates directly impacts the local economy, where commercial movement is harmed, and farmers incur heavy losses due to the difficulty of transporting their products, in addition to a decline in job opportunities due to disrupted movement between cities. These gates also contribute to severing the ties within the West Bank, causing Palestinian cities to lose their natural connectivity, pushing younger generations towards frustration and despair, which carries serious implications for community stability and cohesion. The most significant impact lies in transforming Palestinian geography into a mosaic of isolated islands, weakening the possibility of establishing a viable Palestinian state according to international resolutions.

The timing of the installation of more of these gates is not innocent; it comes within a complex political context linked to regional and international transformations, as well as internal Israeli conflicts. Amid increasing international pressure on Israel due to settlement activities and the growing recognition of the Palestinian state, the Israeli government seeks to impose facts on the ground that obstruct any possibility of settlement. Additionally, the intensification of gates serves internal objectives, as Israeli right-wing leaders use the "security" file to justify their policies to their public and protect their ruling coalitions. On a symbolic level, this step reflects the occupation's transition from a phase of indirect control to a phase of managing Palestinian life in its most intricate details, from daily movement to the relationship between villages and cities. It is an attempt to reshape the Palestinian scene in accordance with the logic of power and dominance at a sensitive historical moment in which the occupation seeks to solidify new equations before any upcoming settlement.

The spread of gates and barriers in the West Bank and Jerusalem, which numbered around 898 by mid-2025, including 88 in Jerusalem alone, expresses a systematic Israeli policy that transcends the security dimension to a strategic project aimed at dismantling Palestinian geography and tightening control over the lives of the population. The effects of this system are not limited to hindering daily movement and weakening the economy, but extend to undermining the potential for building a cohesive Palestinian society and a viable independent state. The intensification of gate installations at this particular time reflects the occupation's attempt to impose new political and geographical realities before any possible settlement, and constitutes a clear message that field control is the primary tool for entrenching its settlement and exclusionary project. Thus, the hell of the gates represents not just a humanitarian violation, but a dangerous indicator of the trajectory of the conflict and its future directions.

Is it possible for Israel to declare the authority as an enemy entity!

Lawyer Salah Moussa

Lawyer Salah Moussa

Opinion Writer

Israel cannot decide without American approval on any step, which may be a complex mix of revenge against the authority. The most dangerous of these decisions, and the one most aligned with Israeli goals, is the declaration of the Palestinian National Authority as an enemy entity. This decision only requires a government resolution, as was the case in 2007 when Olmert's government declared the Gaza Strip an enemy entity.

Considering the authority as an enemy entity will allow the Israeli government to shift its dealings from the authority to civil and semi-official institutions such as municipalities, chambers of commerce, unions, private sector companies, and various businessmen.

This scenario may seem the most likely to be implemented, as this decision provides Israel with significant flexibility to treat the authority as an irrelevant entity without the need to cancel the Oslo Accords. Consequently, Israel could then change travel procedures and prevent Palestinian officials from having any mobility, even pursuing them before Israeli security agencies, allowing for control over the authority's financial resources and other properties. It could also request that all parties refrain from dealing with the various authority agencies.

Marketing this step will spare Israel from taking direct actions that may politically harm it; it is sufficient to declare the authority an enemy entity to crystallize a long-term operational strategy. What has happened in the Gaza Strip since 2007 to the present clearly indicates that the new definition has taken a long time to implement the larger project of displacement.

If the declaration of the Gaza Strip at that time aimed to prevent the establishment of a Palestinian state, then the Israeli step of declaring the authority an enemy entity becomes a higher priority as it achieves the same declared goal for Israel.

Whether Israel takes this step or other parallel and/or equivalent steps, or any other action, what matters to it is the dissolution of the authority as a unified political, administrative, and service entity, transforming population centers into a collection of fragmented and conflicting administrations.

The advice for decision-makers is to be prepared for the worst-case scenario, which begins with declaring the authority an enemy entity and does not stop at partial annexation or actual control over all territories, attempting to isolate and dismantle the authority by deepening cooperation with local bodies. Not only that, but also pursuing every official body within the authority and pressuring it, which may lead to the pursuit of officials and creating unprecedented chaos within cities, villages, and camps, on the path to tearing apart the Palestinian social identity.

This possibility may seem far-fetched; however, it is possible if it receives support from the United States, especially if Trump does not achieve what he wants from his anticipated meeting with several Arab leaders in New York. The idea of dismantling the authority and pushing it towards collapse would be the optimal choice to bury the idea of a state in parallel with the war on Gaza. Ben Gvir's call to arrest President Abu Mazen may be preceded by the arrest of several Palestinian officials to push the authority towards collapse. The government may be prevented from holding its sessions, and Israel may threaten several of its members if they go against its instructions. Everyone remembers how Israel prevented celebrations or even the establishment of reception tents for prisoners during the exchange deal; how would it act if it decided to declare the authority an enemy entity?!!

Nevertheless, not everything planned by the occupation is fate. If the proposed options exist, it is more appropriate for decision-makers to take all of this into account and prepare well. We believe that the current methods of managing public affairs will change due to Israeli decisions. Therefore, either these official bodies take deep and different preparatory steps, or we will face an existential test due to the inability to grasp the seriousness of the phase and its implications for our people. And since decision-makers believe that everything can be managed and coped with, we will not propose solutions, but we sound a national alarm bell, hoping that some will remember to formulate the least possible response to confront Israeli steps.

Israeli media: Netanyahu discusses with Trump the completion of Gaza war objectives

Israeli media reported that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will discuss with U.S. President Donald Trump the need to complete the war objectives in Gaza and achieve peace in the region, while U.S. Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff anticipated a breakthrough following the presentation of a 21-point American plan.

The Israeli Broadcasting Authority clarified that Netanyahu will discuss with Trump the need to complete the war objectives and expand the circle of peace in the region, according to the Israeli army radio.

Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper quoted Netanyahu as saying that he will discuss with Trump "the great opportunities that our victory has provided us and our need to achieve the war's objective," as he expressed.

On the other hand, Maariv newspaper reported that the Israeli army informed Netanyahu of the necessity to reach a ceasefire and release the prisoners held under the current situation.

Maariv added that the army and the Shin Bet are aware that the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) has set a primary goal of abducting a soldier from the army during the maneuver.

The newspaper stated that "the Israeli army is working to clarify the nature of the threat to all its forces."

On another note, U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff said yesterday, Wednesday, that he expects a breakthrough related to the war in the Gaza Strip in the coming days, explaining that Trump presented a plan in this regard during his meeting with leaders of Arab and Islamic countries on the sidelines of the General Assembly in New York.

Witkoff stated during the Concordia Summit on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly, "We presented what we call the Trump plan for peace in the Middle East and Gaza, which consists of 21 points."

He added, "I believe it addresses the concerns of Israel as well as the concerns of all the neighbors in the region."

Israeli General: This is why the war in Gaza does not stop despite the reasons.

The Israeli political and security circles are still discussing the future of the Gaza Strip in the aftermath of the genocide war. Despite the availability of all security and political conditions to end it, the ongoing division among Israelis remains the true reason for the continuation of this war.

General Eitan Ben Eliyahu, the former commander of the Air Force, mentioned that on October 17, 1953, David Ben-Gurion, the first Prime Minister of the occupying state, published the document "The Concept of Israeli Security," which covered all relevant aspects, and its quantitative focus was on the inequality between us and our enemies. Over the years, due to the population growth of the state and its technological achievements, the gap has not been completely closed; rather, it has stagnated.

He added in an article published by Channel 12, translated by "Arabi21," that "the principle that guided Ben-Gurion was that the enemy would recover after every war, and it was expected that we would engage in a new round of fighting. Therefore, every round of fighting must end when the occupation has the upper hand, or as Ben-Gurion said, with a clear decision, meaning that the other side is unable, or at least unwilling, to continue fighting, which the Prussian general von Clausewitz defined as 'the decision.'

The "Return Key" pin provokes anger in Tel Aviv.. and the occupation's Foreign Ministry accuses Abbas of seeking a "new tsunami."

A key-shaped pin worn by Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas on his jacket during his speech before the United Nations General Assembly has provoked the ire of the Israeli Foreign Ministry, which launched a sharp attack, considering the symbol to have the goal of 'erasing Israel' and seeking to create a 'new flood' to destroy the Jewish state.

This diplomatic spat brings to the forefront the deep conflict between the Palestinian and Israeli narratives, where the 'key' represents a fundamental symbol in Palestinian memory, while Tel Aviv sees it as an existential threat.

President Abbas appeared wearing the key pin during his speech delivered via video on September 22, on the sidelines of the United Nations meetings. The key is a traditional and deeply significant Palestinian symbol, referring to the mass displacement of Palestinians from their homes and lands in 1948, known as the 'Nakba', and embodies the Palestinian people's insistence on the right of return to those lands.

Although Abbas's speech called for an end to the conflict and the establishment of lasting peace based on good neighborly relations between two states, the Israeli occupation's response focused entirely on the symbolic significance of the pin.

In a post on its official account on the 'X' platform, the Israeli Foreign Ministry described the key symbol as 'unequivocal in its goal of erasing Israel from the face of the earth.' It added that 'Abbas's key represents the old plan of the Palestine Liberation Organization: two states for one Palestinian people and the destruction of the Jewish state.'

The ministry went further, accusing Abbas of 'wanting to create his own flood', referring to the flood of Al-Aqsa, by returning millions of descendants of Palestinian refugees to what it considers 'Israeli' lands, with the aim of 'demographically destroying the Jewish state.'

In its response, the Israeli Foreign Ministry presented a counter-narrative, pointing out that during the 'War of Independence' in 1948, the number of Jews who were displaced from Arab countries was greater than the number of Palestinians who left their homes.

Trump's plan for Gaza amid Netanyahu's maneuvers and doubts about implementation

The 21-point plan by U.S. President Donald Trump to resolve the Gaza crisis and the Palestinian issue is generating mixed reactions among political and strategic affairs experts.

While Arab and Muslim leaders express cautious optimism, analysts warn against repeating previous scenarios where Trump reversed his positions under the influence of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who is wanted by the International Criminal Court.

The U.S. president met with leaders of Arab and Islamic countries at the United Nations to present his plan regarding Gaza, describing the meeting as very important and emphasizing his desire to end the war and recover hostages.

Although the broad outlines of the U.S. proposal did not include detailed specifics, the American news site Politico confirmed that Trump promised Arab leaders not to allow Israel to annex the West Bank.

In this context, the declared U.S. intent aligns with a cautiously optimistic Arab stance, as the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, pointed out that the situation in Gaza is extremely dire, adding, "We are here to do everything we can to end the war and bring back the captives."

In the same vein, the Emir of Qatar addressed the U.S. president, affirming, "We rely on President Trump's leadership to put an end to the war in Gaza."

These positions are reflected in the joint statement issued by the participating countries, which emphasized the necessity of stopping the war and releasing prisoners as a first step towards a just and lasting peace, indicating a common ground for cooperation between the U.S. administration and Arab and Islamic countries on this sensitive issue.

Strategic expert in the Republican Party, Jean Card, confirmed that the coming days will reveal more details about the plan, noting that Trump added a new element by pledging not to allow Israel to annex the West Bank.

However, Card pointed out that Trump is known for frequently changing his opinions, but she clarified that what can be inferred is understanding how he views matters concerning Gaza and the future solution.

In another assessment of Trump's ambitions, Card explained that the U.S. president seeks to achieve a historic accomplishment that surpasses the Abraham Accords, asserting that he is a dreamer in different ways and believes in peace despite his image as a strong person.

She noted that Trump is proud of the Abraham Accords and wants to add a new legacy, but she considered the vision impossible despite having no doubt about his dedication.

Based on this analysis, Card predicted that Trump's goal for the upcoming meeting with Netanyahu is to persuade him to agree to the plan, as he wants to emerge as the hero who achieved peace.

However, she anticipated that Netanyahu would not yield, which could cause frustration for Trump, who does not back down or surrender.

Conversely, researcher and political analyst Dr. Osama Abu Rish pointed out that any statement issued by the U.S. president is a cause for optimism, but he questioned whether this optimism would translate into practical action.

In this context, Abu Rish reminded of what happened last July when the level of optimism reached the belief that the Israeli aggression had come to an end, but the result was Trump reversing his positions and placing the responsibility back on Hamas.

Nevertheless, Abu Rish confirmed that the leaked items from Trump's plan appear mostly positive, especially regarding stopping the aggression, reconstruction, humanitarian aid, and the role of Arab Islamic forces and the Palestinian Authority.

He also praised the conditions set by Arab and Muslim leaders to prevent annexation, displacement, and new settlement activities.

However, this positive assessment does not hide some reservations, as Abu Rish warned of the contradictory messages coming from the U.S. administration, pointing to past experiences with Trump, who presents one position and its opposite.

He added that all these matters are subject to Trump's mood and Netanyahu's ability to maneuver and manipulate.

In analyzing the political context in which the U.S. administration operates, Abu Rish pointed to a series of pressures facing Trump, ranging from his obsession with the Nobel Peace Prize to the pressure from the "MAGA" movement that demands he puts America first instead of Israel.

On the international front, he highlighted the growing diplomatic isolation with European countries recognizing the Palestinian state, leaving America isolated from three-quarters of the international community.

Moreover, Abu Rish added that Trump has given Netanyahu all possible support in terms of weapons and diplomatic backing without achieving a decisive victory, which has translated Israeli isolation into American isolation.

Regarding the Israeli side of the equation, Israeli affairs expert Dr. Mohannad Mustafa clarified that Netanyahu's acceptance of the plan is linked to the extent of serious American pressure on him.

Spain sends a warship to protect the "Fleet of Resilience" heading to Gaza.

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez announced that his country will send a warship tomorrow, Thursday, from the port of Cartagena in the southeast of the country to protect the "Global Resilience Fleet" aimed at breaking the Israeli blockade on the Gaza Strip.

Sánchez stated in a press statement after participating in a session of the United Nations General Assembly on Wednesday: "A maritime operations ship equipped with all necessary resources will depart tomorrow from Cartagena to assist the fleet (Global Resilience) and carry out a rescue operation if needed."

Spanish media confirmed that the government's decision came after a similar move by Italy, noting that the Ministry of Defense clarified that the ship will operate in international waters.

The "Global Resilience Fleet," consisting of more than 50 boats heading towards Gaza with the aim of opening a humanitarian corridor and breaking the Israeli blockade, was subjected to drone attacks last night believed to have been carried out by Israel, resulting in several explosions and communication disruptions, with no human casualties reported.

Earlier, UN Human Rights Commission spokesperson Thameen Al-Khaitan condemned the drone attack on the fleet, while opposition groups in Greece and France called for the protection of the "Global Resilience Fleet."

Rome also condemned the attack on the fleet in Greek waters and announced that the multi-role frigate "Vesuvio" of the Italian Navy, stationed north of the island of Crete, has moved towards the area to assist its citizens.

For its part, the "Global Resilience Fleet" announced earlier on Wednesday that 12 explosions occurred on 9 of its ships due to being targeted by drones.

The fleet did not address the timing of these attacks or the responsible party, while Israel remains silent, having repeatedly threatened to prevent the fleet from reaching Gaza.

Israel, the occupying power in Palestine, has previously engaged in piracy against earlier ships that sailed individually towards Gaza, seizing them and deporting the activists on board.

For days, dozens of ships have been sailing as part of the "Global Resilience Fleet" towards the Gaza Strip, carrying humanitarian aid, particularly medical supplies.

This is the first time that this number of ships has collectively sailed towards the Gaza Strip, where about 2.4 million Palestinians live, and which has been under Israeli blockade for 18 years.

With U.S. support, Israel has been committing genocide in Gaza since October 7, 2023, resulting in 65,419 deaths and 167,160 injuries, most of whom are children and women, and a famine that has claimed the lives of 442 Palestinians, including 147 children.

Colombia calls for the formation of a global army to liberate Palestine and arrest war criminals.

Colombian President Gustavo Petro called for the formation of a global force aimed at liberating Palestine, stating that condemnation and denunciation are not enough to confront the crimes committed by Israel in Palestine.

In statements to Al Jazeera Mubasher today, Wednesday, he added that many countries have expressed their willingness to participate in forming a military force to liberate Palestine, and that statements of condemnation are no longer sufficient.

He emphasized the necessity of demonstrating strength in the face of Israel and arresting those accused of committing genocide in Gaza and bringing them to the International Criminal Court, saying that the formation of a global army to save Palestine would be linked to the will of the countries.

Petro affirmed that "a human majority worldwide is calling for an end to the Israeli genocide war on Gaza," and that "the voting system in the Security Council must be changed, as no single country can impose its opinion on the world."

He stated that he expressed to the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, solidarity with his country and condemned the Israeli bombardment that targeted it earlier this month.

The dream of Palestine is close to realization, as he believes that the dream of the late President Yasser Arafat to establish a Palestinian state is nearing fulfillment, and that saving the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip is a rescue for all of humanity.

Petro expressed his rejection of Israeli accusations of anti-Semitism, adding, "We support the children of Gaza who are being bombed by Israel, because we have suffered from the horrors of violence in our country, so we understand the dangers of war and the importance of promoting peace."

He accused global companies of supporting the war on Gaza and funding campaigns in favor of Israel, pointing out that some European positions on the war in Gaza are characterized by hypocrisy.

In August 2018, Colombia recognized Palestine as a free, independent, and sovereign state.

Former Shin Bet Chief: Recognizing the State of Palestine Could Contribute to Ending the War

The British newspaper "The Times" published a report stating that the former head of the Israeli internal intelligence service considered Britain's recognition of the Palestinian state as potentially contributing to ending the war in Gaza.

Amir Ayalon said that this step could help find a diplomatic solution to the "conflict" between "Israel" and Hamas by assisting in isolating both sides.

The decision by Keir Starmer to recognize a Palestinian state, alongside France and other countries, has angered "Israel," with Benjamin Netanyahu's government stating that this move rewards Hamas for its attack on October 7, 2023. The United States, still Israel's closest supporter, also rejected it, describing it as a "performative gesture."

However, Ayalon stated that he disagrees with this assessment, telling The Times: "They said it is a great gift to Hamas. It is not a great gift to Hamas. It is a nightmare for Hamas. It is a collapse of their ideology; they will disappear as a major political player."

Ayalon argues that the groups that will not benefit from the recognition are extremist groups like Hamas, which governs Gaza, and the Israeli messianic right, which pushes for the formal annexation of the West Bank and the rebuilding of Jewish settlements in Gaza.

He said: "It is a very clear message to these two extremist and violent groups that have led the region in some way over the past thirty years," adding: "Yes, it will also isolate our government. But our government does not represent Israelis today."

More than 70 percent of them believe that we should end the war and return all hostages to start a negotiation process between us and the Palestinians.

As more of Israel's allies prepare to recognize Palestine at the United Nations General Assembly in New York this week, and with France and Saudi Arabia holding a meeting to reaffirm the value of a two-state solution, Ayalon said that these developments could generate "hope."

He added: "Recognizing a Palestinian state is a very positive declaration and an important message. Everywhere, especially in the Middle East, this has great meaning and value. It is essential to create hope."

Ayalon, 80 years old, was born to Romanian immigrant parents in Palestine under British mandate three years before the establishment of the State of Israel. He received Israel's highest military honor, the Medal of Valor, for his bravery under enemy fire during the 1973 war.

He led the Israeli Navy and then the Israeli General Security Service (Shin Bet) between 1995 and 2000, after the Oslo Accords established a framework for a two-state solution to end decades of conflict. However, the plan has stalled since then, leaving vast areas of the West Bank under full Israeli control.

Since retiring from the head of the Israeli General Security Service (Shin Bet), Ayalon has become a politician and minister in the Israeli Labor Party, opposing Netanyahu's more hardline stance on recognizing a Palestinian state.

He has also become more reflective about his time in the military while fighting against Israel's enemies, which he believes has diminished the prospects for long-term peace and security.

Ayalon spoke about the conflict that has escalated beyond Gaza to strike painful blows against the country's enemies in Iran, Lebanon, Syria, and Yemen: "The Israeli military campaign since October 7 can be considered 'one of the greatest military victories in history,'" adding: "We still do not realize that there are limits to what can be achieved using military force."

Military leaders are aware of this - they say it loudly and clearly to the Israeli people."

Ayalon was referring to the long line of current and former security officials who have criticized Netanyahu and the war in Gaza, which has claimed the lives of more than 65,000 Palestinians, according to Hamas. Even the current chief of staff of the Israeli army, Eyal Zamir, is said to have warned against the recent attack on Gaza City before it began.

The Mossad, Israel's equivalent of the foreign intelligence service (MI6), is believed to have refused to carry out a recent operation to kill Hamas officials in Qatar while ceasefire negotiations in Gaza were ongoing. Instead, the Israeli army conducted an airstrike that failed to kill senior leaders of the movement but was widely condemned as an attack on a Western ally.

Ayalon commented on the strike: "They (the military leadership) made a decision without considering the regional repercussions that could arise from it," adding that it recalls the failed assassination attempt of Khaled Mashal in 1997, one of Hamas's prominent targets in Doha.

On that occasion, Mossad agents were arrested in Am

Drafting Committee of the Interim Constitution: We salute the countries that recognized the State of Palestine... and we affirm our commitment to moving forward with the completion of the interim state constitution.

The Committee for Drafting the Temporary Constitution praised the stance of all the countries that announced their recognition of the State of Palestine during this month, during the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly and at the two-state solution conference. It commends their supportive position for the Palestinian cause and their efforts to protect the two-state solution and the peace process in the region.

This was stated in a statement issued following a meeting of the Committee for Institutionalization of Governance, Local Administration, Public Administration, and Security Agencies, which was held at the headquarters of the Palestine Liberation Organization in Ramallah, with the attendance of several governmental institutions and bodies, as well as leaders of the security agencies.

The committee stated in its statement that the recognition by Britain, Portugal, France, and several other countries of the State of Palestine, and its joining over 140 countries that recognize Palestine, is a correction of the global understanding of the peace process in the Middle East, and a fundamental step supporting the implementation of the two-state solution and achieving a just and comprehensive peace that encompasses all the peoples of the region.

The committee added that this is a historic moment that crowns an important phase in the long struggle undertaken by the Palestinian leadership, headed by His Excellency President Abu Mazen, may God protect him, to establish the Palestinian identity worldwide and to safeguard the rights of our people, foremost among them their right to self-determination in their independent state with Jerusalem as its capital, and the return of refugees. In this context, it thanked both France and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for their continuous support and efforts made to hold the conference and the resulting recognitions of the State of Palestine.

The committee emphasized the importance of national preparations for the implications of international developments and the recognitions received by the State of Palestine, including the ongoing preparations to finalize the drafting of the temporary constitution for the State of Palestine within three months.

Regarding the work of the Constitution Committee, the attendees affirmed the importance of the provisions related to institutionalizing national institutions, enhancing the principles of good governance, and the evolving standards in building systems, regulations, rights, and national duties. At the conclusion of its meeting, the committee adopted three specialized subcommittees: local governance and public administration, security agencies, and governmental institutions and bodies, which will immediately commence their work on the constitutional provisions related to the entities referred to in the names of the three committees, reviewing previous drafts of the constitution, with the aim of drafting the constitutional provisions related to their competencies and incorporating them into the temporary constitution. These committees will be formed in coordination with the relevant parties for each committee.
