Administrative detainees are preparing to start struggle steps

The club said in a statement, "Since the beginning of this year, the occupation authorities have continued to expand the circle of administrative detention, as the number of administrative detainees has exceeded 1,000, including 14 children and two female families, and the number of administrative detention orders has reached more than 1,200, and today the administrative detainees are in three Central prisons, namely: (Ofer, the Negev, and Megiddo).
He pointed out that the administrative detainees, since the beginning of last year 2022, have implemented a series of struggle steps, the most prominent of which was the boycott of the occupation courts, in addition to the hunger strike step that was carried out by 30 administrative detainees and lasted for 19 days, as a cry in the face of the crime of administrative detention, and these steps form part of From a long struggle path that administrative detainees have waged for decades.
The club confirmed that the crime of administrative detention, which is one of the most prominent and dangerous crimes committed by the occupation authorities against the Palestinians, has increased significantly since last year, compared to the past few years. In January of last year, the number of administrative detainees was about (500), Today it has doubled, as mentioned above, to more than 1,000.
And he indicated that the Israeli occupation authorities have issued more than 12,000 administrative detention orders since 2015, the highest percentage during the past year, compared to the past few years, when the number of orders reached (2409).
The Captive Club indicated that 80% of the administrative detainees are former detainees who spent years in the occupation prisons, including under administrative detention.
The occupation authorities aim, through the crime of administrative detention, to undermine any active state and impose more control and oversight on Palestinian society within the framework of the apartheid regime imposed by the occupation on several levels.
It is worth mentioning that the occupation authorities resort to administrative detention against those against whom they cannot file an indictment, under the pretext of having a “secret file” and as a “retaliatory” measure, based on the Emergency Law that it inherited from the British Mandate, and the occupation courts are complicit in their decisions.
