Great anxiety hangs over the family of detainee Maher Turkman

The al-Turkman family expressed its deep concern for the life of its persecuted son, Maher Ahmad Turkman, in light of the conflicting accounts of his arrest, which was announced by the Israeli occupation during an operation in the al-Ghafr area near the town of Silat al-Harithiya, west of Jenin.

Turkman is considered the number one wanted person in the Jenin governorate, and he survived several assassination and arrest attempts. His brother, Walid Turkman, told Al-Quds.com, "Until now, we have not received any information from an official party or witnesses about Maher's arrest, which we have not seen and no news of him since his arrest in 4/9/2023".

He added: "Everything we receive from the media quotes the occupation, while no one was able to identify the house that was raided and the arrest process took place. Therefore, we are worried and afraid for the fate of my brother, who received several threats of liquidation and execution."

His brother Walid called on the Red Cross and human rights institutions to intervene to find out the truth.

Palestinian sources told Al-Quds.com correspondent that the continuous movements and contacts were unable to reach the house from which Maher or others were arrested, expressing their concern in light of the occupation's failure to provide any evidence about Turkman's arrest.

It is noteworthy that Turkman was born in 1972, married and has 7 children. He worked in agriculture in the Jordan Valley until the occupation chased him on charges of carrying out the Jordan Valley operation, in which his son Muhammad was injured and later martyred, while his nephew Muhammad is still a prisoner despite his burns in the operation, about two months ago. The occupation forces arrested his son Ahmed (20 years old), who is still under investigation.
