Freiburg kept the struggle to qualify for the European Champions League burning after its victory over Wolfsburg 2-0 in the opening of the penultimate 33rd stage of the German Football League on Friday.

And at his stadium in the “Schwarzwald Stadion”, Freiburg was able to equalize with Union Berlin, fourth, with 59 points, but the latter has a lesser match, which it will play against its host, Hoffenheim, on Saturday.

The goals of the winning team were scored by Christian Gunther (71) and Nils Petersen (75).

The victory of the hosts was not easy, especially since the first half ended in a goalless draw, and the result remained the same until the last twenty minutes, when Freiburg managed to score its opponent. Just 41 seconds after entering the field as a substitute, Gunter was able to open the scoring (71), and after only four minutes, the other substitute Petersen was able to double the score.

The match witnessed the expulsion of Freiburg player Nicholas Hoeffler (79).

Only one point separates Leipzig III from Freiburg V, so the last two stages will be decisive in determining the qualifiers for the main continental competition.
