Champions League: Ancelotti "Madrid summit with City is a confrontation between the two best teams in Europe"
The Italian coach of Real Madrid, Carlo Ancelotti, believes that the two best teams in Europe will compete head-to-head for a place in the final match of the Champions League in football on Wednesday, when the Spanish giants visit Manchester City, England.
The two teams tied 1-1 in the first leg last Tuesday in Madrid, and City seeks to exploit the ground workers and the public on Wednesday to take revenge on the Royal Club, which ousted it from the same round last year, on its way to the fourteenth title in its history in the competition and the fifth in the last nine seasons.
Ancelotti said Tuesday in his press conference on the eve of the match at the Etihad Stadium in Manchester, "Madrid and City at this moment are the two best teams in Europe and for sure it will be an exciting match as it was in the first leg."
City did not lose in 22 matches in various competitions and is close to achieving a rare triple, as it leads the English Premier League and reached the final match of the FA Cup competition and seeks its first title in its history in the Champions League competition.
"Our plan will be the same as always: to get the most out of the players, individually and collectively," said Ancelotti. "But it is clear that it will be a very difficult match."
He continued, "I think we can do better than the first leg, but they will do that too .. Maybe we think we can do better (...) We are full of hope and we are very motivated. We know that the task will be very difficult, but sometimes it helps us It's hard to do our best."
Ancelotti will play Wednesday's match with his full squad after French international midfielder Eduardo Camavinga recovered from a knee injury that forced him not to complete the Getafe match (1-0) on Saturday in the domestic league.
The Brazilian international defense pole, Eder Militao, returns after being absent from the first leg due to suspension, where he was replaced by German Antonio Rudiger.
Ancelotti refused to confirm who would start in the center of defence, after his comments at the weekend hinted that Rudiger would start the first leg, having shone in marking City's lethal Norwegian striker Erling Haaland, who scored 52 goals in various competitions that season.
Ancelotti spoke of Haaland again, "When we analyze a team, we don't analyze one player. It's not about Haaland, we have to evaluate all the players. We should not only watch Haaland, but all the players."
For his part, said the veteran Croatian international midfielder Luka Modric, "We played a lot of these matches .. the semi-finals and the final."
He added, "We have confidence and calm because we believe in our personality and our qualifications, and this is what I see day after day."
