Spain Championship: Seville increases the ordeal of Espanyol

Seville led to the path of victories, deepening the wounds of its guest, Espanyol, seeking to avoid relegation, when it beat it 3-2 on Thursday in the thirty-third stage of the Spanish Football League.

At the “Ramon Sanchez Pisjuan” stadium, Sevilla was racing to score in the 22nd minute through Brian Gill with a left shot from inside the penalty area, before his Dutch-Moroccan colleague Karim Raqiq gifted the guests an equalizer by mistake (29).

Espanyol thought he had regained control when he took the lead in the 43rd minute with Javier Boadu's goal with a shot from outside the penalty area, which he placed in the right corner of Serbian goalkeeper Marko Dimitrovic.

But a penalty kick for Seville in the 69th minute was successfully translated by Argentine Lucas Ocampos. The Andalusian team equalized before killing the match in its last breath with Senegalese goal Bab Gueye (88).

Seville raised its score with this victory to 44 points in tenth place, while Espanyol remained in the penultimate nineteenth place with 31 points.

The victory came at an appropriate time for Seville, who is invited to face Juventus in the semi-finals of the European League competition “Europa League” next Thursday, while Espanyol’s task will be very difficult, as its next match will be the “Catalunya derby” on the night in which Barcelona will seek to win its first title since 2019, where he needs only two points.

In another match, Girona beat Real Mallorca 2-1 at home.

The goals of the hosts were Colombian Bernardo (45 + 2) and Argentine Valentin Castellanos (84), while Kosovar Vedat Murichi scored Mallorca's only goal (80 from a penalty kick).

Girona raised its tally to 47 points in seventh place, while Mallorca remained in twelfth place with 41 points.

In another match, Real Betis achieved an important victory over Athletic Bilbao with a clean goal scored by Brazilian Willian Jose (6).

With this victory, Betis raised its tally to 52 points in sixth place, while Bilbao remained eighth with 47 points.

Rayo Vallecano defeated Valladolid 2-1 to rise to ninth place with 46 points, while the loser remained in sixteenth place with 35 points.
