Addressing UN; FM Al-Malki calls for end of occupation

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Riyad Al-Maliki, said this evening, Tuesday, that the process of displacing and replacing the Palestinians by the Israeli occupation is still underway, with one goal that is pursued in broad daylight, which is annexation.

Al-Maliki stressed, during a speech during a session of the UN Security Council to follow up the situation in the Palestinian territories, that the time has come to end the Nakba, which has been prolonged and has become the longest period of denial of national, collective and individual rights in the world caused by the longest occupation in modern history.

He added: The entire system based on international law is based on two basic principles: the right of peoples to self-determination and the inadmissibility of seizing land by force, and there is no violation of these rules more than aggression and annexation.

He continued: If the United Nations Charter had been adhered to, and Security Council resolutions had been implemented, peace would have prevailed in Palestine a long time ago, not occupation and apartheid, and this is all we ask: adherence to the United Nations Charter and implementation of United Nations resolutions. like he said.

Minister Malki asked, "How many Israeli officials have been held accountable in any way for the crime of colonial settlement in our land, for forced displacement, indiscriminate attacks against civilians, and the demolition of homes and buildings that many of you funded? What consequences did they face?"

Al-Maliki said: "Palestinians are not killed by hundreds and thousands by mistake every year. The disregard for the lives of the Palestinians, and the will to subjugate and control them, is because Israel has instituted a shoot-to-kill policy."

In his speech, Al-Maliki touched on the daily violations committed by the Israeli occupation authorities and settler terrorism, saying: "The soldiers and settlers spread destruction in our streets and in our lives. No one is safe anywhere and at any time. Neither in our land, nor in our streets, nor in our mosques, nor in our churches." Nor in our schools, nor in our homes. There is no shame in declaring that one group, the group unlawfully present in our land, shall benefit from all privileges, while the other group, the lawful inhabitants of the land, shall still be deprived of their most basic rights."

He added: There is a simple principle that underlies all international law and international justice: Deterrence is the only way to prevent recurrence, and that the only issue worth discussing is how you can mount a collective response that will deter anyone from violating international law and ensure that everyone adheres to peace, in word and deed.

The Palestinian foreign minister said, as long as Israel reaps the fruits of its occupation, and we pay the price, annexation and apartheid are the only reality we have left.

During his speech, Al-Maliki called for the recognition of the State of Palestine, saying: "How can any country that supports the two-state solution and peace justify not recognizing the State of Palestine so far, without which there is no. The two-state solution? If there is no recognition of the State of Palestine now and it is under a vital threat, When will the international community do that?

He added, “Why does this council, which has been calling for a two-state solution for decades, not recommend the membership of the State of Palestine to the General Assembly? Is there a better way to embody international support for the two-state solution than for a state that has been unjustly denied membership since 1948 to become a member of the United Nations? Why? Israel, which violated the terms of its membership, namely Resolutions 181 and 194, and continues to violate the Charter, is entitled to membership, and we who respect the Charter of the United Nations are deprived of it?”

Minister Al-Maliki also demanded the protection of the Palestinian people from the crimes of the occupation, in implementation of the mandate of the Security Council to maintain international peace and security, and the issue of Palestine, an issue of international security and peace.
