Qatar Championship: Al-Duhail overtakes Al-Rayyan and regains the lead
Al-Duhail regained the top spot in the Qatari Football League after overcoming Al-Rayyan 4-3 on Tuesday, in a postponed match from the fifteenth round of the Qatari League.
Al-Duhail stopped the series of stumbles when it fell in the league in front of Al-Gharafa 0-2 and was eliminated from the Emir Cup by Al-Sailiya with a penalty shootout 5-4 (2-2), raising its score to 45 points and two points away from Al-Arabi II, while Al-Rayyan’s balance froze at 17 with a match. Deferred in front of Qatar, retaining its seventh position.

Al-Duhail moved away with a difference in the second half through a penalty kick won by Bassam Al-Rawi, who was subjected to interference from Muhammad Jumaa. Olunga executed the kick successfully, scoring the third goal (76), before Sufyan Boufal revived Al-Rayyan's hopes to return by narrowing the difference through a powerful shot from inside the area (80).
Al-Moez Ali restored the two-goal difference after only two minutes, after a solo effort, bypassing more than one defender, to face the goalkeeper and put the ball into the net (82), while Sufyan Boufal’s third goal for Al-Rayyan (90 + 4) did not prevent his team from losing.
Al Shamal will meet Al Markhiya on Wednesday in a second postponed match.
