Health issues a statement about a woman's complaint of harassment in a hospital
Today, Saturday, the Palestinian Ministry of Health said that it had received a complaint from a female citizen, which included an allegation that an x-ray technician in a private hospital in Bethlehem harassed her while taking x-rays after she was admitted to the hospital as a result of a traffic accident on March 2, 2023.
The Ministry indicated that it does not underestimate this type of complaints, and it considered them very seriously. Therefore, immediately after the complaint was received, the Minister of Health formed an investigation committee to find out about the complaint and investigate it. The committee presented the results of its work and recommendations to the Minister of Health, and the Palestinian Public Prosecution and the Independent Commission for Human Rights Human copies of findings and recommendations.
She indicated that on April 14, 2023, the complainant posted a video clip on her Facebook page, in which she recounted what she says happened to her inside the hospital, in addition to what happened during her interview by the investigation committee formed by the Minister of Health. The complainant’s speech in the video included: Questioning the committee, its integrity and its results.
The Ministry said, out of its keenness to preserve the dignity, rights and honor of patients and all male and female citizens, whether within governmental, private or private health facilities, and to ensure the existence of a safe environment within health facilities, and to expose the Palestinian public, and work to bring out the full truth, it calls for the formation of an impartial investigation committee. As soon as possible, it includes the Journalists Syndicate (the complainant is a journalist), the Independent Commission for Human Rights, civil society organizations concerned with women’s rights, a representative of the complainant, and a representative of the Radiology Syndicate, and that the committee seek the assistance of any party it deems appropriate and important to reveal the truth.
