An-Najah University receives the renewal of the UNESCO Chair for Sustainable Water Resources Management

An-Najah National University obtained a renewal of the UNESCO Chair for Sustainable Water Resources Management. In appreciation of her tireless and fruitful efforts in ensuring the sustainability of water resources, by promoting scientific research and developing the competencies and capabilities of workers in the water sector, in addition to coordinating scientific and research efforts in the water sector and strengthening Palestinian and international cooperative relations in the field of water resources sustainability.


And bless A.D. Abdel Nasser Zaid, President of the University, took this step, and confirmed that An-Najah University continues to strengthen the active Palestinian presence in specialized international organizations and important platforms.


He stressed that this renewal embodies the concepts of sustainability that the university constantly seeks to adopt through its applied, scientific and research programmes, centers and projects.


He pointed to the continuation of the university's achievement of Arab and international achievements, the latest of which was its rank first in the Arab world and fifth in the world in the classification of higher education. (HE Higher Education Ranking)


Dr. explained. Anan Al-Jayyousi, holder of the chair, said that this achievement is the culmination of the efforts made by the administration of An-Najah University in the field of sustainable management, and indicates that the university pays great attention to water because of its great importance to the Palestinian reality. He referred to the development goals that the chair seeks to achieve, represented by strengthening management Integrated water resources, employing modern research and technology in developing and improving water services for the Palestinian society.


It is worth noting that UNESCO Chairs are established in Member States in order to develop research and academic programs in specific fields, and to build contacts and strengthen partnerships in them at the local, regional and international levels.


The renewal of the UNESCO Chair for Sustainable Water Resources Management is an affirmation of An-Najah National University's vision and its commitment to achieving the sustainable development goals approved by the United Nations.
