Ramallah - "Jerusalem" dot com - The General Assembly of the Federation of Information Systems Companies - PITA, held its regular general meeting for the year 2022, in the presence of a group of federation companies in both the West Bank and Gaza Strip.
The meeting was inaugurated by the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Tamer Baransi, under the supervision of Abdul Salam Shbeita on behalf of the Companies Controller - Ministry of Economy, the Union's legal advisor, lawyer Wael Abu Nema, and the Union's auditors (Ernst Young EY).
Barancy touched on the most important achievements and success stories achieved by the union during the past year, as it implemented projects and programs in the fields of hardware, software, Internet service providers, training and consulting companies and other specialties, benefiting 76 member companies, and it also contributed to covering the full operating expenses. for the institution.
He said that the number of union members increased during the previous nine months by 21 new members, as well as the increase in the number of employees in the West Bank and Gaza, and the institution’s revenues increased during the past year significantly and significantly, in addition to the success achieved by Expotec for its seventeenth year under the framework of digital transformation.
He added that the Union is working on training and qualifying graduates from the communications and information technology sector, networking them with various companies for employment, and training women to provide training and employment opportunities for them, in addition to rehabilitating companies, especially those that were damaged after the war in the Gaza Strip.
He pointed out that these interventions are being implemented through the partnerships that the federation formed during the previous period with various financiers and partners such as (GIZ, UNDP, EU, Enabel, Finance 4 Jobs, AECID) and other financiers.
Baransi explained that the federation works within four strategic axes set by the current council for its advancement, which lead to an increase in the members participating in the membership of the federation, namely: implementing projects that serve the interests of members from all disciplines, qualify graduates of this sector and meet the needs of the market, and implement interventions that meet the needs of companies through committees. The various unions, follow-up on issues that concern companies through lobbying and advocacy with various official authorities, and networking with external parties and supporters of the sector to design interventions that contribute directly to strengthening the member companies and the sector as a whole by facilitating companies’ penetration into global markets such as European and others, and participating in international conferences and events to transfer knowledge. and experiences in new technological techniques.
He reviewed the administrative report and approved it by the General Assembly, and then the financial report was presented by the representative of the auditing company (EY) Abdul Karim Mahmoud, and the members approved the financial report and discharged the Board of Directors from the liability for the ended year.
The attendees at the meeting discussed a number of issues that concern the members of the Union and decided on them, stressing that the continuity of work, cooperation, and the consolidation of energies and efforts in both parts of the country, especially in light of the difficulties faced by the Palestinian people, will enhance the role of members, serve their interests, and advance the entire sector.
