Bahrain achieves 72% of the plan to employ 20,000 Bahrainis annually in the first half of 2022

MANAMA - (Xinhua) The Kingdom of Bahrain announced today, Tuesday, the success in achieving 72 percent of the plan to employ 20,000 Bahrainis annually in the first half of 2022.


14,321 citizens were employed in the first half of 2022, compared to the employment of 12,038 citizens in the same period last year, an increase of 19%.


Bahraini Labor Minister Jamil bin Muhammad Ali Humaidan affirmed the continuation of endeavors and efforts towards enhancing the creation of more qualitative opportunities and development paths that primarily target the people of the country, as reported by the Bahrain News Agency (BNA).


Minister Humaidan revealed the success of the employment plans during a press conference on the latest developments in employment and training in the first half of the year 2022, which comes within the implementation of the initiatives of the National Labor Market Plan for the year 2021-2023.


Minister Humaidan revealed a decrease in the unemployment rate from 7.7 to 5.7%, indicating that the total number of job seekers currently amounts to 14,824, of whom 76% are females and 24% are males.


In terms of training, Minister Humaidan explained the increase in training rates during the first half of the year 2022, achieving 59% of the goal of training 10,000 Bahrainis annually until 2024, when 5,891 Bahrainis were trained, compared to the training of 4,772 Bahrainis in the same period of the year. last year, with an increase of 23%.


Humaidan also confirmed the continuation of the Ministry of Labor in launching more initiatives that seek to increase the mechanisms motivating the employment of citizens and their integration into the labor market, as he explained that the market is currently witnessing growth in various productive sectors.
