In a statement, on the occasion of the International Day for Consumer Protection , which falls on March 15, the Ministry affirmed that the procedures for developing the consumer protection system in terms of the legislative environment, and government interventions to support commodities during the past year, contributed to curbing the steady rise in commodity prices, as a result of the global crisis. .

And she stressed steps to support food security in terms of completing the completion of the requirements for establishing the wheat silos project, which is in its final stages, and diversifying markets for the supply of commodities and basic needs, in light of the supply chain disturbances, in addition to the control system in controlling and regulating the market.

The Ministry referred to the most prominent shifts in consumer behavior, and reliance on online purchasing and shopping, adding that despite the positivity in the ease of access to the commodity, dozens of complaints based on exploitation and non-conformity with the required specifications were recorded, in addition to reporting complaints by violators, which reinforced control and regulation of the market.

The Ministry touched on its efforts, in cooperation with partners, to promote safe e-commerce, as the first draft of this trade law was completed, in cooperation with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, in preparation for presenting it to the Council of Ministers soon, after completing discussion and consultations with all partners working and interested in it.

She referred to the policies and procedures of the Israeli occupation in stealing and piracy of our rights in various fields, especially the policy of controlling and controlling the inputs of the Palestinian economy, limiting the possibility of a strong industrial base that strengthens the pillars of the economy, and effective integration into the economies of countries, in addition to fighting the national product in the various control and piracy departments that it pursues. occupying state.

The Ministry indicated that consumer protection teams seized last year 1,163 tons of expired materials that violated mandatory technical instructions, and 49 tons of settlement products and commodities, and referred 279 violators to the Public Prosecution Office for combating economic crimes, for not adhering to Palestinian laws. The teams also dealt with 2,169 complaints received from citizens. Through the direct number 129, I focused on the high prices of some commodities, and not advertising them on the products displayed in the shops.
