German Championship: Bayern takes advantage of Dortmund's stumbling in the Ruhr derby and takes the lead

(AFP) - Bayern Munich took the lead when it honored its guest, Augsburg, by defeating it 5-3, taking advantage of the stumbling of his former partner, rival Borussia Dortmund, in the Ruhr derby in front of its host, Schalke 04, 2-2, on Saturday, in the twenty-fourth stage of the German Football Championship .
In the first match at the “Allianz Arena” in Munich, the Bavarian club overturned its failure with an early goal by Mirjim Berisha (3) to win five, including a four-way in half an hour, which was scored by Portuguese Joao Cancelo (15), French Benjamin Pavard (19 and 35) and Leroy Sanneh (19 and 35). 45).
The guests narrowed the difference at the beginning of the second half through Berisha from a penalty kick (60), but Canadian Alfonso Davis restored it to its previous state by scoring the fifth goal (74), before Frenchman Irfan Cardona scored the third goal for Augsburg in the third minute of stoppage time.
It is the third successive victory for Bayern Munich and the fifteenth this season, raising its tally to 52 points and ending the lead partnership by two points against rivals Borussia Dortmund.
Bayern coach Julian Nagelsmann praised his team's "important reaction" after the early setback, but lamented "taking our foot off the pedal at the end" of the match.
Nagelsmann preferred to keep captain Thomas Muller, French Kingsley Coman, Leon Goritska and Croatian Josip Stanisic on the bench and give Senegalese Sadio Mane, Leroy Sanneh, Serge Gnabry and Portuguese defender Joao Cancelo to start.
Cameroonian top scorer Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting was sidelined with a back injury.
Augsburg was the first to score, specifically in the third minute, through Berisha with a left-footed shot from inside the area.
But Bayern responded strongly and with a hat-trick in 20 minutes, through Cancelo with a powerful right-footed shot that hit the far left corner after a pass from Sanneh (15) and Bavar with a right-handed shot from close range following a pass from Mane (19) and with a right-handed shot from close range also, taking advantage of a header by Dutch giants Matthijs de Licht from a defender (35).
Sanneh reinforced the fourth goal with a header from close range, taking advantage of a rebound from one of the defenders, after a shot from close range by Mane (45).
Augsburg scored a penalty kick at the beginning of the second half, which Berisha successfully set up, narrowing the gap (60).
But Davis restored it to its previous state by scoring the fifth goal when he received a cross ball inside the area from Cancelo, who followed it from close range into the goal (74).
Davis left his place in the 78th minute for Moroccan international defender Naseer Mazraoui, in his first appearance since his return from his country's historic participation in the World Cup in Qatar, when he reached the semi-finals and finished in fourth place, after being exempt from symptoms of infection with the Covid-19 virus.
Augsburg scored his third goal via Cardona with a shot from close range (90 + 3).
In the second match at the "Viltens Arena" in Gelsenkirchen, Borussia Dortmund lost its lead twice and failed to win for the second time in a row.
International defender Nico Schloterbeck gave Dortmund the lead in the 38th minute, but Marius Balter equalized early in the second half, before Portuguese international defender Rafael Guerrero restored the visitors' lead after 10 minutes, but Turkish substitute Kenan Karaman equalized after nine minutes.
The disappointing draw for Dortmund came four days after its exit from the final price of the Champions League by losing 0-2 to its English host Chelsea, and thus its series of successive victories stopped at the beginning of the new year at 10 matches in all competitions, including eight in the Bundesliga.
On the other hand, Schalke continued its recent recovery and kept its record without loss for the seventh time in a row, and got rid of the last place, as it became seventeenth with 20 points, with a goal difference behind the sixteenth Stuttgart, one point behind the fifteenth Hertha Berlin, and the last survivor of relegation to the second degree.

And Leipzig regained its balance in a timely manner, with a great victory over its guest Borussia Monchengladbach 3-0, and its rise to third place temporarily.
Borussia Mönchengladbach paid dearly for missing a penalty kick at the beginning of the second half (53), and conceded three goals that were scored by Timo Werner (57), Swede Emil Vosberg (71 from a penalty kick) and Croatian Josko Gvardiol (80).
Leipzig made up for its loss against Borussia Dortmund 1-2 in the last stage and achieved its thirteenth victory this season, raising its score to 45 points, one point ahead of Union Berlin, who is a guest at Wolfsburg on Sunday.
And Leipzig achieved its victory before its trip to England to face Manchester City on Tuesday in the second leg of the Champions League final (1-1).
Hertha Berlin tied with Mainz with a goal by Lesic Ngankam (18 from the penalty spot) against a goal by French Ludvik Ajork (57), and Eintracht Frankfurt with Stuttgart with a goal by Sebastian Rode (55) against a goal by Democratic Congolese Silas (75).
