Repression escalated in Ofer prison, cold weather deepens prisoners' suffering

The Prisoners Club said that the repression operations have escalated significantly in Ofer Prison recently, as an extension of the policy of repression and raids, which constitute one of the most prominent systematic policies against prisoners in the occupation prisons, which reached its peak during the war of extermination and the comprehensive aggression that continues to this day.

The Prisoners Club revealed some details of the repression operations that were recorded in the prison, based on a group of testimonies that the Prisoners Club’s lawyers obtained during the past period, specifically regarding the repression that the prisoners were subjected to on the evening of February 16.

He explained that the suppression operation resulted in varying degrees of injuries among the prisoners, after the heavily armed suppression forces of the occupation prison administration stormed several sections, using police dogs, bombs, and severe beatings. In addition, the cold weather cast its shadow over the suffering of the prisoners inside the prisons, with the prison administration continuing to refuse to bring in sufficient clothing, as well as blankets suitable for the weather conditions, as the prison administration uses the bitter cold as a tool to torture them, in addition to a set of systematic tools and policies that fall within the framework of the crime of torture.

The Prisoners Club had previously highlighted how the prison administration turns prisoners’ injuries into a tool for torturing them. During visits to a number of the injured, they confirmed that they are living in torment due to the constant pain and the lack of necessary treatment for them, in light of the medical crimes that the prison administration is practicing against them, in a systematic manner, and the exacerbation of their suffering due to the severe cold.

The Prisoners Club reviews a group of testimonies from prisoners in Ofer Prison who were recently subjected to repression, in addition to testimonies from wounded detainees and how their conditions worsened due to the lack of treatment and the extremely cold weather conditions.
