Specifications of the "new Trumpism" and the question of the future
The "intellectual and political structure" of former (and future) US President Donald Trump has become a well-known fact on a global scale. This "structure" is the fundamental aspect of Trump's personality that is not disputed not only by prominent Arabs and Israelis, but also by prominent people in the world, whether politicians, military personnel, media professionals, researchers, etc. The disputed issue among most of them is specifically about the nature of the effects of President Trump's brain cell secretions and their impact on his future decisions, which are difficult to estimate or guess. This reality is what has led analysts to always come up with scenarios regarding his future decisions without these analysts having any ability to put their finger on them accurately or with certainty!
With the abundance of Israeli sources that spoke about the truth of Trump’s intellectual and political structure, I found that the most comprehensive and eloquent of them was what was stated in the editorial of the newspaper “Haaretz” in its issue dated 8-11-2024. The editorial summarized the components of that structure on the basis that Trump (and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, according to the editorial’s conclusion) is a believer in “national isolationist” ideas, hatred of foreigners, admiration for the wealthy, and contempt for institutions, rules and laws… so that his authority (and no one else’s) would be an authority without restraints. This, (in addition to his success) in transforming (the American Republican Party)… into a project for the worship of the personality”!
Whether we like this reality or not, President Trump’s return will bring radical changes not only within the United States but also throughout the world, especially after the specifications of this “return” added a lot to his strength. He is the second president (in American history) who lost the presidency in a second term but returned and won it in a new term. His popularity, which is evident in facts and figures, made it overwhelming in terms of the total votes of the elected (withdrawing many votes historically counted in favor of the rival Democratic Party), sweeping all the swing states. As such, Trump and his isolationist movement have taken over the banner of the Republican Party, eliminating or marginalizing various historical or emerging leaders in the party, especially with his seizure, in his “triumphant” return, of the three branches of government (the executive, the legislative, and the Supreme Court)!
What has added to the exceptional power of the incoming president Trump is the fact that, with this amazing popularity, he may succeed in completing the process of “cleaning” his name and erasing the scandals that have historically accompanied him. As for the fact that he will not be able (legally) to run for the next presidency, this reinforces the fact that he is not and will not be indebted to anyone in the party or outside it, whether in terms of his candidacy or in terms of his dazzling success, especially since he originally came from outside the world of American politics as well as from outside the world of politics specific to the Republican Party.
In light of all these "accumulations", it is strange and also funny that a growing number of analysts and observers are now betting on the components of the exceptional power that have become in Trump's hands, based on his high (and perhaps exacerbated) narcissism, to conclude that his era (in its new version) will be a golden age in which the president (returning to the throne of the most powerful country in the world) will play the role of "restorer" of America's new greatness internally and externally, coupled with the role of "fire extinguisher" across the globe, in line with his desired role as a global "peacemaker" that qualifies him to win the Nobel Peace Prize (which is one of the scenarios I mentioned in my previous article). Will this "optimistic" scenario come true and include within it the Palestinian/Israeli conflict (the most dangerous and chronic in our region), or will the "pessimistic" scenario prevail (and perhaps the most likely, especially after he announced the composition of his next administration, which does not bode well)? Are we witnessing an American policy based on the fact that what applies to the world under the “new Trumpism,” which enjoys and even enjoys excess power, does not apply to us, the Arabs and Muslims, such that we remain exempt from the application of the laws of legitimacy and international laws and thus exposed to the dangers (read: the follies) of the “old Trumpism,” whose mountain one day gave birth to the mouse of the infamous and notorious “Deal of the Century”?!!
