Mustafa: What makes the two-state solution possible is ending the occupation
Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Mohammad Mustafa, stressed the need for the international community to mobilize various efforts to approve and implement practical steps to implement the two-state solution, in addition to working to stop the occupation's aggression against our people in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, including Jerusalem.
This came during a discussion session hosted by Spanish Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Spanish capital, Madrid, which included members of the Arab-Islamic Contact Group on the Gaza Strip, the Kingdom of Norway, the Republic of Slovenia, Ireland, and the European Union, in order to intensify international efforts to implement the two-state solution and to confirm the advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice ruling that the occupation is illegal, as the United Nations General Assembly is scheduled to vote in its 79th session next week on a draft resolution to end the Israeli occupation of the Palestinian territories.
Mustafa stressed that what makes the two-state solution possible is ending the occupation, more recognition of the State of Palestine, and full membership in the United Nations.
Mustafa also stressed that the path of international justice represented in implementing the legal advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice is the basis for confronting the illegal occupation and stopping its illegal practices and their impact on the rights of the Palestinian people, calling for support for voting on it in the United Nations.
The Prime Minister said: "Gaza is still a bleeding wound that has not stopped, and the Israeli plans are not only against Gaza or the West Bank, but against the Palestinian people and their existence."
Mustafa called for supporting the efforts of the Palestinian government in its relief program for the Gaza Strip, and for reconstruction and life to be restored immediately after the aggression stops.
For his part, Albares affirmed his country's support for Palestine, the Palestinian government and its efforts in the Gaza Strip, along with the rest of the Palestinian territories, and continued support for the establishment of the Palestinian state and the implementation of the two-state solution as a frame of reference for moving from words to actions according to an actual timetable.
Albares also stressed that the progress made in recognizing the State of Palestine is very important but not enough, stressing the need for decisive action by the international community in the face of efforts to undermine the two-state solution and expand the scope of violence, and to adhere to international law, stop aggression, peace and security in the Middle East, and implement the two-state solution.
The meeting discussed developments in the region, efforts to stop the aggression against our people in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, and to enhance humanitarian efforts and deliver aid to all parts of the Strip.
