The Ministry of Education and Higher Education said that 12,329 students were killed and 20,160 were injured since the start of the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip and the West Bank on October 7, 2023.

The Ministry of Education stated in a statement on Tuesday that the number of students who were martyred in the Gaza Strip since the beginning of the aggression has reached more than 13,054, and those who were injured are 21,320, while in the West Bank 123 students were martyred and 671 others were injured, in addition to 560 being arrested.

It pointed out that 657 teachers and administrators were martyred and 3,904 were injured in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, and more than 165 were arrested in the West Bank.

It pointed out that 324 government schools, universities and their buildings, and 65 affiliated with the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), were subjected to bombing and vandalism in the Gaza Strip, 128 were completely destroyed, and 57 were partially destroyed. In addition, 109 schools and 7 universities in the West Bank were subjected to storming and vandalism.

The Ministry of Education confirmed that 788,000 students in the Gaza Strip are still deprived of attending their schools and universities since the beginning of the aggression, while most students suffer from psychological trauma and face difficult health conditions.

It pointed out that the repeated occupation raids on the Jenin and Tulkarm governorates caused terror among students in their schools.
