Gaza's future is tied to the results of the US elections
After it became clear what the United States seeks as a major role in the framework of liquidating the Palestinian national liberation project, and strengthening its control over the region in the face of the growing role of emerging countries and international groups, American policy today is moving towards reorganizing the Palestinian and Israeli political scene in a way that serves its alliances and interests, and ensures relative "stability" in the American concept, which the Democratic and Republican parties do not differ on except in the method of work sometimes, according to the determinants of cultural, religious, ideological and security relations with the occupying state, and its role and position in relation to the global colonial project.
Therefore, it can be said that there is an American trend that actually seeks to limit the Palestinian state without sovereignty that the American administration is talking about to what will remain of the surveyed lands in the Gaza Strip after eliminating Hamas or significantly weakening it, and completing the mission of destroying it that is currently underway until the end. This scenario supports the idea of distancing the "Palestinian file" from any future threat to "Israel's security" on the one hand, and prepares the ground for the emergence of a new Israeli government that is more compatible with the American vision of "regional peace", within the framework of the new Middle East project.
As for the West Bank, it seems that there is a plan to fragment its areas into isolated cantons, which will ensure that there is no unified Palestinian entity capable of threatening Israel and implementing sustainable development for our people. An entity far from international rules and the legitimate rights of our people, after the occupation is able to eliminate whatever pockets and resistance cells it can in it and kill the culture of resistance, and separate it from its popular incubator, as if it is responsible for the destruction of our people, in continuation of what is happening now in the camps and cities of the north within the framework of the broad and clear project of the Zionist movement on the declared Israeli maps.
According to this vision, Jerusalem will of course be outside any supposed real Palestinian-Israeli negotiation, if such negotiations are to take place later, which I do not believe will happen within the existing data, and which is consistent with the current American and Israeli policy that recognizes Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and the Jewishness of some large settlement blocs, in addition to the existing reality in the Jordan Valley and the city of Hebron after they were Judaized politically, economically, security-wise and demographically.
In this context, the "renewed" Palestinian Authority, according to the repeatedly announced American plan and requirements, may have a mandatory role in this plan in the West Bank after the exhaustion of the components of the National Authority that were established according to the Oslo Accords that were executed by the occupying state, and considered them to be finished, as well as their financial budgets with piracy by the occupation and the American and European conditions in order to pay aid, in addition to the Arab failure to fulfill financially and politically, as assumed according to American pressures, and getting rid of the historical legacy of the struggle of the PLO and the national movement, foremost among which is its backbone, the Fatah movement, which has lost many of its components, role and position for reasons that are not hidden from anyone today, especially if the Hamas movement is weakened and replaced by an Islamic party, similar to what happened in Turkey, and the continuation of implementing the stages of the early decision plan and spreading the mentality of accepting the status quo without working and struggling to change it, which is something that has begun to appear among a few cultural and political elites, and please excuse me for this description.
The United States, with its historical strategic rejection of the right of self-determination for our Palestinian people, may seek to reconstitute the Palestinian National Authority or support a “new or renewed” leadership that would have the final say in its formation with the support of the European Union, specifically its donors, reproducing this plan within the framework of “regional self-rule” in the form of isolated cantons due to settlements, their expansion, and bypass roads, but without any real sovereignty over the land, security, and borders, far from the form of a sovereign state and its natural concept according to international law, approaching the concept of the state that Trump proposed within the framework of his vision for peace in the “Deal of the Century,” which was rejected by the Palestinian leadership at the time.
This vision is now in line with the game of negotiations on a deal to stop the aggression and exchange prisoners, the chapters of which are being drawn up by the American administration in partnership with Netanyahu, according to Kissinger’s negotiating rules that I referred to in a previous article, to procrastinate and delay “yes” and “no” to what was stated in the Security Council resolution regarding it, which Hamas agreed to, and which is being retracted today by the Americans and Israelis, despite it being their production and their output by proposing new negotiating formulas that may be unacceptable to the negotiating Palestinian side, so that the responsibility for failure is placed on it, and the occupation is given more time to implement the remaining goals.
What is happening today requires close monitoring of developments on the ground, especially with regard to the conflicts within the framework of the stifling crises in the Israeli government and street regarding all issues except the issue of occupation, and the American moves towards the Gaza and West Bank file based on rejecting the foundations of establishing a fully sovereign Palestinian state, despite the complete preoccupation today with the course of the US presidential election campaign and the existence of other hotbeds of tension around the world, specifically in Europe and the China Sea.
Therefore, the political project related to the future of Gaza becomes possible to talk about, about a truce and about a role for the National Authority only after the US elections, despite the Biden-Harris administration’s efforts to suggest that there is progress that will help their election campaigns in front of Arab communities and others, and in front of the progressive wing of their party, at a time when Trump’s and the Republicans’ ideas seem clear on the other hand, claiming that Harris seeks to destroy Israel and undermine the principles of the United States, which is a matter that falls within the competition between them over who among them provides the greatest services to the occupying and apartheid state.
This political project requires an American leadership role based on the vision of the winning party despite the absence of fundamental differences between them, Arab cooperation and a “different or renewed” national authority, according to the American concept that I referred to, and a government of a different kind in Israel that thinks about the future of the region and not about the political future of a person with no future named “Bibi” Netanyahu.
In light of these political expectations, the recurring question today is how to confront this ongoing and accelerating plan after it has made extensive strides on the ground, in light of the absence of effective action to stop the war of extermination, and being content with monitoring without unified engagement by all Palestinians, in confronting the dangers that are taking place, not only through the war of extermination in Gaza and its extensions in the West Bank, but also through the annexation of parts of the north and south of Gaza and the return of settlement to its outskirts to keep that entity in the form of a state besieged. The failure to reach the required form of national unity within the framework of the PLO, and the absence of a clear and integrated vision and program that moves away from reactions only or being dragged behind an American mirage that relies on ignoring the national political rights of our people through managing the conflict and maintaining the occupation in various forms, and discussing economic or security projects, and without carrying out national reforms that have become a popular Palestinian demand to be a protective shield against all pressures aimed at imposing a renewed leadership internationally that may not be national, all of this will weaken the Palestinian position based on the ability of our people to withstand challenges with possibilities that are not open to options.
I do not claim to have the magic formula to thwart these projects and move forward towards achieving the goals of the national liberation stage, but there are constants and foundations required by the battle for freedom and national independence, similar to the culture of global liberation movements, and in our case on the basis of the unity of the land, people and cause and the culture of resistance in various forms that increase the cost of the occupation in an effective and responsible manner according to the available circumstances, and whose equation should have been protected from the beginning after the black coup that greatly harmed our people, their national interests and their position before the world, and to proceed later to expand the foundations of national unity among all components of our people, especially the youth, without limiting that to the factions of national action, so that the role and position of the PLO increases locally, regionally and internationally, especially in the context of relations with the peoples of the world who returned to demonstrate with the start of the school year around the world on the one hand, and building on the collapse of the Israeli deterrence and terrorism mentality according to the development of events and the anger of the Arab peoples, which was represented by the martyr Maher Al-Jazi’s boldness and bravery in revenge for what is happening to his Palestinian brothers, and for what is also happening from Zionist ideological attempts regarding the position of the homeland The alternative is to threaten Jordan's stability and violate the sovereignty of other Arab countries.
.........
The political project related to the future of Gaza will only be possible to talk about, about a truce, and about a role for the National Authority after the US elections, despite the Biden-Harris administration’s efforts to suggest that there is progress that will help their election campaigns with Arab communities and others.
