Talking about an imminent agreement isa lie
The American statements regarding the status of the ceasefire talks in the Gaza Strip are not consistent with the truth, and they only aim to support the occupation’s positions and continue its aggression against the Strip, and its criminal war that has crossed all boundaries.
After the return of its delegation from Cairo the day before yesterday, Israel will send a technical team to Doha today to continue the negotiations in an attempt to reduce the gaps in the controversial issues.
The Israeli delegation is heading to Doha today, with no significant authority from Netanyahu, who put the answer before the question, so that his delegation will return without achieving any progress, in an absurd negotiating path, whose only goal is clearly media consumption and further playing on the strings of the families of the Israeli detainees, who are fed up and furious with Netanyahu’s statements and obstacles.
Yesterday, informed Israeli media sources confirmed that without Netanyahu showing “dramatic flexibility” regarding the Philadelphi Corridor, the negotiations will fail within days.
Netanyahu has re-proposed an old proposal regarding the Netzarim corridor, a proposal that Hamas and mediators have rejected in the past. It calls for digging transverse channels along the corridor in a way that prevents vehicles from passing and directs them towards a buffer zone, which will lead to a major congestion in the movement of Palestinians. He realizes that his fate is rejection, and therefore he is interested in raising such controversial issues and proposals to continue to obstruct the progress of the negotiations and waste any real opportunity to implement them on the ground.
Netanyahu is also putting more obstacles in the Israeli side's wheel, as he excluded the Minister of Defense, the Chief of Staff, and the official in charge of the detainees' file from the recent discussions about the hostage deal, in order to repel any attempt to pressure him on the issues of the Philadelphi and Netzarim axes.
On the other hand, the United States still holds its opinion, refusing to describe the recent Cairo talks as having failed and collapsed. Rather, it claimed that they were constructive, and that the formation of the working groups that will meet today in Doha aims to discuss the fine details, through working at a lower level, especially a partial settlement of the Palestinian prisoners, who may be exchanged for Israeli detainees. It seems that the United States has decided to move towards resolving the issues related to the prisoners and detainees, thus postponing the heavy issues related to the axes and crossings to the final stage of the exchange deal. This is a tricky trap through which the United States seeks to give Israel what it wants, by obtaining a larger number of detainees, and then reoccupying the Strip and attacking it as it pleases. This has led Hamas officials to fear and worry about the American plan, and to describe talk of an imminent agreement as false.
As long as Netanyahu insists on not withdrawing from the Philadelphi corridor, and complicating the return of the displaced from the south to the north, talk of an exchange deal or a ceasefire is considered a fantasy.
