Another US senator refuses to listen to Netanyahu's upcoming speech in Congress
Democratic Senator Jeff Merkley from the US state of Oregon announced his decision not to attend Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's upcoming speech in the US Congress tomorrow, Wednesday.
Merkley said on the X platform on Tuesday: “Following the horrific attack launched by Hamas, Netanyahu’s war strategy killed more than 12,000 women and children and caused widespread famine.”
He added: "(Netanyahu) has made his political presence more important than the release of hostages (Israeli prisoners). He should not speak before Congress."
It is expected that a large number of members of the Senate and House of Representatives from the Democratic Party will boycott Netanyahu's speech before the US Congress.
Democratic Senator Elizabeth Warren and Independent Senator Bernie Sanders were among those who announced that they would not attend Netanyahu's speech.
It is noteworthy that Netanyahu delivered a speech before the US Congress in March 2015 during the era of former President Barack Obama, and about 60 Democrats did not attend to hear his speech.
It is noteworthy that a larger number of Democrats will not attend the Israeli Prime Minister's speech scheduled to be delivered before the US Congress tomorrow, Wednesday.
