Galant: Netanyahu's government seeks to impose military rule in Gaza, and our soldiers will pay the price
Dismissed Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant criticized Benjamin Netanyahu's government's efforts to use private companies to distribute humanitarian aid in the Gaza Strip, considering that this means "military rule" for which soldiers will pay with their lives.
This came in a post published by Galant on Wednesday evening on his account on the "X" platform, amid the government's study of bringing in a private American company to distribute food to Gaza under the protection of the Israeli army.
"The talk about food being distributed to the residents of Gaza by private companies under the protection of the Israeli army is rhetoric for the beginning of military rule," Galant said.
He added: "The price of blood will be paid by the soldiers of the Israeli occupation army, and by the State of Israel, in light of a poor arrangement of priorities that will lead to neglecting more important security tasks."
Galant considered that Israel must "prepare an alternative entity to replace the Israeli army in controlling the region, otherwise we are on the way to military rule."
He went on to criticize the government's efforts: "The aid will be distributed by private companies, the companies will be guarded by the Israeli army, and we will all pay the price."
Galant stressed that "military rule in Gaza is not part of the war's objectives, but rather a dangerous and irresponsible political act."
On November 5, Netanyahu dismissed Galant and appointed Yisrael Katz in his place, amid disagreements over the way the war in Gaza was being managed.
After causing a major starvation crisis in Gaza by its decision to ban the work of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), Israel claims that it is considering replacing it with alternative entities to distribute aid in the Strip, most notably an American security company.
Israeli Army Radio reported on Wednesday that "Netanyahu and Katz held a 4-hour discussion yesterday regarding Gaza with experts, which included a plan to bring a private American security company to Gaza," without mentioning its identity.
The Hebrew newspaper "Israel Hayom" revealed that the new Minister of Defense held a meeting with senior army leaders to discuss the possibility of using an American security company to distribute humanitarian aid in the Gaza Strip.
During the meeting, the possibility of a private American security company entering certain neighborhoods in Gaza and taking responsibility for the civilian aspect and distributing humanitarian aid was raised, with the Israeli army providing them with security cover only, according to the same source.
As part of its deliberate destruction of Gaza, Israel insists on refusing to allow any Palestinian party to take responsibility for distributing humanitarian aid in Gaza, and has banned the work of UNRWA, which usually undertakes this task.
Palestinians in Gaza are suffering from a policy of starvation due to a shortage of food supplies because of Israel’s obstruction of the entry of humanitarian aid into the Strip, according to the confirmations of many UN and international institutions.
