Professor Miller: Intellectuals around the world are leading a powerful movement for humanity and the liberation of Palestine
Professor of Political Sociology, Professor David Miller, said that intellectuals, specifically in the Western region, are leading a strong movement for humanity and the liberation of Palestine, stressing the importance of working to develop this movement and moving forward to confront Zionist tendencies, and organizing the activities of this movement to become more widespread and influential.
Miller added in an interview with the program “With the Editor-in-Chief” presented by Muhammad Barghouti on Palestine TV: “Palestine today has achieved victory over the Israeli occupation, which has been revealed for what it is before the world, as support for Israel has decreased on a daily basis.”
He pointed out that the academic group in support of Palestinian rights faces many challenges due to Zionist propaganda, including trying to prevent any criticism of Zionism or the strategy on which it is based, as they try to besiege freedom and prevent speech when it comes to criticizing Zionism.
Miller pointed to the three-year campaign against him because of his lectures on criticizing Zionism and how to promote fear of Islam (Islamophobia) in the Western world, pointing to a decision by the university to dismiss him from his job on the claim that he was working against Semitism under pressure from the Zionist lobby.
Miller warned of the Zionist lobby’s attempts to pressure the expulsion of academics who oppose Israel and support the Palestinian cause, and said: “They may succeed in some attempts, one of which was to dismiss me from my job, but the Zionist lobby now feels failure in light of the launch of marches and demonstrations in universities in support of Palestinian rights.” ".
He added: “The rise in support for the Palestinian cause worldwide is increasing in Western universities and societies as a result of the academic role based on educating students and revealing the truth about the goals of Zionism,” expressing his hope that this will become more effective in all parts of the world and that this role will spread to all universities.
Miller stressed that the boycott of the Israeli occupation is developing at all levels, starting with stopping military support and weapons, stressing the necessity of continuing the boycott of Israel and its siege with this policy, pointing out that there are voices in Britain calling for the necessity of standing up to the lobbies that support Israel.
Miller pointed out that Israel seeks to expel the Palestinians from their land, as it uses all kinds of weapons against them, but this policy is destined to fail and the end of the occupation will only be defeat, stressing the need for the movements spread throughout the world and popular institutions to reject what Israel and the Zionist movement are doing against the Palestinians.
He said, "International public opinion helps limit support for the Israeli occupation, but the problem lies in governments not listening to public opinion, especially in the United States of America, which continues to support Israel, and this is what makes the war continue against the Palestinian people."
In a related context, Miller stressed that the Zionist lobby supports Israel to completely Judaize Jerusalem through the settlements that are increasing in the Palestinian territories, stressing the necessity of confronting this settlement invasion with all forms of societal resistance.
Regarding the occupation government’s targeting of international institutions operating in the State of Palestine, most notably the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), Miller said, “The clear attack on UNRWA and other United Nations institutions aims to stop all forms of support for the Palestinian cause.”
He added: "What Israel is doing against the Palestinians and international institutions is an act of terrorism, and the international community must take a serious stand against these practices, most notably the genocide to which the Palestinian people are exposed."
He continued: "We need an international position to prevent Israel from targeting and protecting international institutions, and to put pressure on the United States of America not to use its veto in the UN Security Council and to punish Israel for the threats it directs to international institutions and their cadres."
Miller stressed that every person who seeks the victory of humanity must support the establishment of a Palestinian state, and said: “Jerusalem is the capital of the State of Palestine and all of humanity.”
