The European Union's High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, warned that Israel has a clear will to gradually annex the occupied West Bank, stressing that this "will not lead to peace."

Borrell said in a press conference, today, Monday, following the meeting of European Union foreign ministers in Luxembourg: “There appears to be a clear Israeli will to annex the West Bank little by little, and this matter will not lead to peace.”

He added: "We have not reached a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip despite three weeks having passed since the proposal, which is supported by the international community."

In response to a question about whether the Israeli war on Gaza will continue, the European official said: “Unfortunately, it seems so. It is the war that will test the ability of the Palestinians to remain in Gaza.”
