Russia and Vietnam affirm their support for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital

The Russian-Vietnamese joint statement on deepening the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries in the context of the 30th anniversary of the Russian-Vietnamese treaty on the basics of friendly relations said Thursday that Russia and Vietnam oppose interference in the affairs of Middle Eastern countries.


The statement published on the Kremlin’s official website said: “The two parties agree in their desire to promote peace and stability in the Middle East, to oppose interference in the internal affairs of the countries of the region, and to express their commitment to a comprehensive, just and long-term settlement of the Palestinian issue on a known international peaceful and legal basis, which is the establishment of An independent Palestinian state within the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital, coexisting in peace and security with Israel,” according to what the Russian Sputnik news agency reported.


The Russian Federation and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam affirmed in a joint statement on Thursday that relations between the two countries aim to enhance global stability and peace, and that they are not subject to geopolitical circumstances.


The Kremlin’s official website published the text of the statement in the context of the thirtieth anniversary of the Russian-Vietnamese treaty on the basics of friendly relations, saying: “Bilateral (Russian-Vietnamese) relations are not subject to geopolitical conditions and aim to strengthen peace, stability and security in the Asia-Pacific region and in the world.”


On Thursday, Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived at the Presidential Palace in Hanoi, where he held talks with the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Tu Lam.
