Gaza Health: 3 children died as a result of malnutrition and dehydration

On Friday evening, the Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip announced the death of 3 children in Al-Shifa Medical Complex, west of Gaza City, as a result of malnutrition and dehydration.

Ashraf Al-Qudra, spokesman for the Ministry of Health in Gaza, said that the death toll from malnutrition and dehydration in the Gaza Strip had risen to 23.

Al-Qudra had said in a statement that “the famine in northern Gaza has reached fatal levels, especially for children, pregnant women, and chronic patients.”

He added, "The famine is deepening and will claim thousands of citizens if the aggression is not stopped and humanitarian and medical aid is not immediately entered."

He stated that "Israel" deliberately commits horrific and successive massacres against thousands of hungry stomachs in northern Gaza.

The areas of the northern Gaza Strip are suffering from a tragic situation due to the complete loss of food supplies and clean water sources and the stifling siege for 152 days.

On Thursday, the Ministry of Health in Gaza said that about 60,000 pregnant Palestinian women in the Strip were suffering from malnutrition and dehydration.

The Ministry stated that women constitute 49 percent of the Gaza Strip’s population, most of whom are of childbearing age, and that about 5,000 women give birth every month in harsh, unsafe and unsanitary conditions as a result of bombing and displacement.

On February 19, the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) warned that the sharp rise in malnutrition among children and pregnant and lactating women in the Gaza Strip poses a serious threat to their health, especially with the continuing devastating war.

The war in Gaza has entered its 155th day, as bombing continues on several areas in the Strip amid a famine that has become a reality.

Israeli military operations in the besieged Gaza Strip left more than 30,000 dead and more than 70,000 wounded, most of them women and children, while international mediators race against time to reach a ceasefire before the month of Ramadan.
