The village of Tel, located north of the occupied West Bank, witnessed fierce field confrontations, after residents and revolutionary youth confronted a provocative incursion carried out by groups of extremist settlers. Field sources reported that the confrontations erupted at the doorstep of the village mosque, where settlers attempted to carry out attacks against properties and holy sites under tight security protection.
During the direct clashes, popular resistance fighters managed to ambush the security official of the 'Havat Gilad' settlement and completely disarm him of his personal weapon. News from the area indicated that the seized weapon was immediately used to retaliate against the attackers, resulting in the injury of the security officer and two settlers with injuries described as minor to moderate.
Following the incident, Israeli occupation forces imposed a comprehensive security cordon on Tel village and the vicinity of Nablus city, declaring the area a closed military zone. Occupation vehicles closed main entrances and vital intersections, completely obstructing the movement of Palestinian citizens amidst a state of extreme tension that prevailed in the area.
The occupation army deployed massive military reinforcements, including special units and armored vehicles, to secure the evacuation of the injured settlers and transport them to hospitals inside the Green Line. Occupation forces also launched extensive search operations in the hills surrounding the village in search of the young men who managed to withdraw after successfully carrying out the weapon seizure operation.
These developments come amid an escalation in the pace of attacks carried out by armed settler gangs against Palestinian villages and towns in the West Bank. Observers believe that this confrontation reflects a development in the methods of popular Palestinian response to attempts to impose settlement realities by force, and confirms the failure of the security system to protect settlers during their provocative incursions.
