Under the weight of American threats... Palestine withdraws its candidacy for the Vice-Presidency of the UN General Assembly

The Palestinian diplomatic mission to the United Nations has decided to withdraw the nomination of its Permanent Representative, Riyad Mansour, for the position of Vice-President of the General Assembly of the international organization in its upcoming session. For her part, Lanis Collins, the official spokesperson for the presidency of the UN General Assembly, confirmed that the organization had received official notification of the withdrawal of the State of Palestine's nomination for the aforementioned position. Collins clarified in a press statement that the State of Lebanon had officially submitted its request to nominate itself for the Vice-President seat allocated to the relevant geographical group, during the eighty-first annual session of the General Assembly.
