Israeli occupation forces committed a new massacre on Wednesday evening in the Beit Lahia project area, north of the Gaza Strip, where a drone targeted a group of unarmed civilians near a mosque. The raid resulted in the martyrdom of 5 people, including 3 children, in addition to serious injuries among passersby, reflecting the continued targeting of civilians in densely populated residential areas.
The aerial attack coincided with intense artillery shelling that targeted the eastern neighborhoods of Beit Lahia, where shrapnel heavily fell on citizens' homes in the main street, causing panic and destruction. In a related context, field sources reported that 4 citizens were injured by Israeli army bullets in the area east of Al-Bureij refugee camp in the central Strip, while medical teams recorded a critical injury due to a drone raid that targeted Bani Suheila roundabout east of Khan Yunis city.
In Jabalia town, a Palestinian citizen was martyred and others sustained various injuries during the morning hours, following an airstrike that targeted a group of residents in Old Gaza Street. The attack occurred while citizens were trying to remove rubble from the ruins of their destroyed home in an attempt to recover some of their belongings, confirming the occupation's deliberate targeting of any civilian movement in the northern areas of the Strip.
Regarding official statistics, health authorities in Gaza announced that the total number of victims of the ongoing aggression since October 7, 2023, has risen to 72,562 martyrs and 172,320 injured. Sources indicated that the period after the ceasefire announcement on October 11 alone witnessed the martyrdom of 786 people and the injury of more than two thousand people, a clear indication of the occupation's non-compliance with the announced truce terms.
Rescue and ambulance teams face enormous challenges in recovering victims, as they have managed to pull out the bodies of 761 martyrs from under the rubble in recent weeks, while hundreds are still missing. Medical sources confirmed that the occupation forces deliberately obstruct evacuation operations and target civil defense teams, leaving many wounded bleeding to death in the streets and under the rubble of destroyed homes.
The total number of martyrs since the ceasefire on October 11 reached 786 martyrs, while the number of injuries during this period reached 2,217 injuries.
