The Israeli occupation army announced today, Sunday, a complete closure of the occupied West Bank and the deployment of two additional battalions, under the pretext of securing the celebrations of the Jewish New Year.
These heightened measures come at a politically sensitive time, coinciding with the preparations of about 11 countries, mostly European, to officially recognize the State of Palestine during the United Nations General Assembly meetings this week.
The complete closure of the West Bank, which includes all crossings and main entrances, will begin tomorrow morning, Monday, and will last until Wednesday evening.
The strict military closure represents a show of force on the ground in an attempt to send messages of defiance against international diplomatic moves.
