The Israeli army radio reported that about 40,000 reservists will head today, Tuesday, to units and bases as part of "Gideon's Chariots 2" operation, amid reports of Israeli soldiers undergoing intensive training in urban and open environment combat.
The Israeli army radio added that half of them will replace regular forces on the front lines, while the other half will serve in headquarters, intelligence, and the air force.
Israeli Channel 12 reported that the army will begin today to call up 60,000 reservists in preparation for continuing the fight in Gaza.
According to the same channel, in the first phase, 5 brigades of reservists, consisting of 15,000 soldiers, will be called up, and these forces will be deployed on the borders with Lebanon and Syria and in the West Bank to enable regular army soldiers to fight in Gaza.
Israeli Channel 13 stated that military estimates indicate that the occupation of Gaza City could take a full year, adding that these estimates suggest a possibility of 100 soldiers being killed in the operation.
Regarding the management of combat in Gaza, the newspaper "Israel Hayom" reported that a document signed by the head of the Israeli Ground Forces Training Division indicates that the method the Israeli army intends to follow in managing combat during the Gaza operation does not include the basic steps necessary to achieve victory.
The newspaper clarified that the document shows items highlighted in red, which are the essential procedures that the army has not yet implemented and does not plan to implement during the occupation of Gaza City.
It stated that the procedures in the document include a complete siege, separating guerrilla warfare from the civilian population, and cutting supply routes.
The document emphasized that failing to implement these procedures prevents achieving a real accomplishment.
In the same context, Israeli army spokesman Avichai Adraee stated that his forces continue their logistical and operational preparations to expand the fighting in Gaza and to widely recruit reservists.
According to the statement, fighters have been equipped with personal and tactical weapons and supplies, and facilities have been established with air conditioning, water, and electricity, alongside the maintenance of military vehicles.
He added that soldiers are currently undergoing intensive training in urban and open environment combat.
Since October 7, 2023, the occupying state, with American support, has been waging a genocidal war in the Gaza Strip, resulting in over 223,000 Palestinian martyrs and wounded, most of whom are children and women, more than 10,000 missing, in addition to hundreds of thousands displaced and famine that has claimed many lives.
Military estimates indicate that the occupation of Gaza City could take a full year.
