Erdogan hosts President Abbas, Hamas' Haniyeh in Turkey

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan received Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas and Hamas political bureau chief Ismail Haniyeh in Ankara on Wednesday, the Anatolia news agency reported.

The agency stated that "President Erdogan meets his Palestinian counterpart, Mahmoud Abbas, and the head of Hamas's political bureau, Ismail Haniyeh," at the presidential palace in the Turkish capital.

This comes after an earlier meeting between Abbas and Ismail Haniyeh to discuss the ways to ease tensions ahead of a landmark meeting between all Palestinian factions in the Egyptian capital later this month.

The Palestinian Authority has accused Hamas of undermining its rule in the occupied West Bank, while Hamas and Islamic Jihad have charged that the PA security forces have quashed resistance, in particular in a wave of recent arrests.

Abbas met with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan as part of an official three-day visit on Tuesday, while Hamas' leadership scuttles between Turkey, Qatar and Lebanon. In their meeting, Erdogan pledged to continue his support of the Palestinian people.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was scheduled to visit Turkey this week as well, but the visit was postponed after he underwent surgery to fit a pacemaker last weekend, and amidst widespread protest over his controversial judicial reforms.

After nearly a decade of tension, relations between Turkey and Israel have thawed in the last year.

Two Palestinian citizens of Israel killed in crime-related homicides

A 30-year-old Palestinian citizen of Israel was killed by a car explosion in a street in Lod on Wednesday afternoon, in what appears to be another crime-related assassination, while another Palestinian was shot dead in the city of Tamra in the early hours of the morning.

Medical staff provided first aid to the victim from Lod at the scene, and quickly transferred him to Assaf Harofeh Hospital, southeast of Tel Aviv, but the doctors declared his death soon afterwards.

The police opened a file to investigate the circumstances of the crime, but no arrests or other information related to the explosion were reported.

In the city of Tamra, 33-year-old Ashraf Saber Akkawi was shot dead and others were wounded in a crime-related shooting.

The killings take the death toll in the Arab community to 124 for the year, in comparison to 109 people last year, and 111 in 2021.

The Arab community in Israel has complained that police have failed to combat criminal organizations, and that the security services have colluded with some of them.

China removes Chen Gang's name from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and keeps the reasons for his exemption ambiguous

China kept ambiguity prevailing on Wednesday about the reasons for dismissing its foreign minister, Chen Gang, from his post after his absence from public appearances, and began removing any mention of him from the ministry's website.

Chen Gang, 57, was relieved of his post on Tuesday, just 207 days after he was named foreign minister, and his predecessor Wang Yi was reinstated, according to state media.

The move came after the absence of Chen Gang, who is considered close to President Xi Jinping and one of his confidants, for a month from the public sphere, which raised speculation that he had lost his status or that he was under official investigation.

As of Wednesday morning, Chen Gang has become a trace of an eye on the official website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as any reference to him has been deleted, and a search for his name or previous articles in which he was mentioned led to a page written on it "It does not exist or has been removed."

However, his name remained present until now on other sites such as the State Council, the Ministry of Commerce, and those belonging to the official media.

And the new Chinese news agency "Xinhua" reported on Tuesday that "China's highest legislative body voted in favor of appointing Wang Yi as foreign minister" on Monday, and that "Qin Gang was relieved" of the post.

The agency did not specify the reasons for the decision, noting that President Xi Jinping signed a presidential order to put it into effect.

Chen made his last public appearance on June 25 to welcome Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Rudenko in Beijing.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs had previously confirmed that "health reasons" stood behind Chen's absence, before refraining at later stages from responding directly to questions about him.

As of Wednesday, state media did not provide any explanation for his dismissal.

However, an expert on Chinese affairs saw that his removal from official websites indicated that Chen Gang had rapidly lost his place in the ruling structure.

"I'm not sure that would have happened if he had been a well-respected comrade (in the Communist Party) who had contracted the disease," said US researcher Bill Bishop.

For his part, Neil Thomas of the American research institute, the Asia Society Policy Institute, spoke of indications that "it is likely that this is indeed a political purge."

Recently, several rumors circulated on the Internet about the reasons for Chen Gang's absence, some of which said that he was under official investigation due to an alleged relationship with a prominent TV presenter.

"People abroad are completely ignorant (of the reasons)," Hu-Fung Hong, a specialist in Chinese politics at Johns Hopkins University, told AFP.

And he considered that what happened "embodies how politics in China is becoming increasingly volatile and unpredictable, despite its appearance remaining calm."

Chen, who hails from the city of Tianjin (northeast), dealt with the Chinese president frequently by virtue of his previous position as head of the Protocol Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The confidence that Xi bestowed on him directly contributed to his promotion at the expense of more experienced candidates, first to China's ambassador to Washington and then to foreign minister.

Before his appointment as minister, he was China's ambassador to Washington, in a position during which he strengthened his public presence by participating in public events and frequent media appearances to explain his country's position on several issues.

He also previously held the position of spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and was known for his harsh responses to embarrassing questions from journalists.
He spent years at the Chinese Embassy in London, and speaks fluent English.

In December 2022, he succeeded Chen Wang as foreign minister, a position the latter had held since 2013.

During his absence, many of Chen's responsibilities were handed over to Wang, a senior diplomat who was formally serving as director of the Office of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the ruling Communist Party Central Committee and leading its foreign policy, above Chen in the government hierarchy.

However, Chen's absence left a void at the top of the Foreign Ministry and began to be reflected in the agenda of foreign visitors to Beijing.
Unexpectedly, a visit by European Union foreign policy chief Josep Borrell was postponed this month.

Bloomberg also reported that British Foreign Secretary James Cleverly made a similar move due to Chen Gang's absence.
US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said Wednesday that he expects to "work well" with Wang Yi, whom he has met twice in the past few weeks.

He added, "It is important for us to manage this relationship responsibly. This begins with diplomacy, and it begins with interaction, and I am ready to cooperate with my concerned Chinese counterpart, whoever it may be," noting that relieving Chen is a sovereign decision related to China.

"Qin Gang was ambassador to Washington. I got to know him when he was ambassador. I had constructive talks with him when he was foreign minister and I wish him success," he said.

Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning confirmed Monday that "China's diplomatic activities are moving forward steadily," despite the minister's absence at the time.

The United Nations adopts a resolution condemning all acts of violence against the holy books

Yesterday, the United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution condemning all acts of violence against the holy books, as a violation of international law.

This comes in the wake of the burning and desecration of many Qurans in European countries, including the burning of copies of the Holy Quran in Sweden and Denmark, in incidents that sparked international outrage.

The 193-member General Assembly adopted the resolution, which Morocco drafted by consensus.

The text of the resolution states that the members of the General Assembly “deplore in the strongest terms all acts of violence against persons on the basis of their religion or belief, as well as any such acts directed against their religious symbols, sacred books, homes, businesses, property, schools, cultural centers or places of worship.”

In the context, the resolution called for the condemnation of attacks targeting the Qur'an, describing them as "acts of religious hatred."

On July 12, the United Nations Human Rights Council (based in Geneva) condemned the violations of the Holy Qur’an at the end of last June in Sweden, despite Western countries voting against the council’s proposed resolution in this regard.

The resolution called for the condemnation of attacks targeting the Qur'an, describing them as "acts of religious hatred".

At least one dead and two injured in cargo ship fire off the Netherlands

At least one crew member was killed and a number of his colleagues were injured in a fire that broke out early Wednesday on a motor ship off the Netherlands, the coast guard said.

The Coast Guard said in a statement that the concerned agencies received a distress call shortly after midnight on Tuesday (22:00 GMT) regarding a fire breaking out on board the Fremantle Highway, about 14.5 nautical miles (27 km) north of the island of Ameland, located off the coast of North Holland.

The same source pointed out that "the crew members tried to put out the fire themselves, but failed to do so. Unfortunately, one person was killed and several others injured," confirming the evacuation of the entire crew of 23.

The Coast Guard confirmed that the ship, registered in Panama, was still on fire.

And the public "NOS" channel reported that a number of rescue boats are working to put out the fire and prevent the ship from sinking.

A Coast Guard official told the channel that the authorities are "taking into account all scenarios," noting that the fire may have started as a result of one of the electric cars transported by the ship.
The "Fremantle Highway" is a car transporter with a weight of 18,500 tons and was sailing between Germany's Bremerhaven in the direction of Port Said, Egypt, according to the "Marine Traffic" website to monitor maritime navigation.

The crimes of the occupation.. expand and do not stop, but they will disappear!!

Jerusalem Hadith

Yesterday, the occupation forces assassinated three young men who were in their car in Nablus, and they had assassinated a large number of martyrs in Jenin a few days ago, and these killings never stop and they continue on an almost daily basis, and in addition to these crimes, they are planning a long march that begins today and continues for two days It will storm the narrow and historic streets of Old Jerusalem in a provocative manner, raising racist banners and chanting hostile slogans.

The government has formed a committee to follow up on the Israeli encroachments on Palestinian archaeological sites throughout the West Bank. It also assigned the Jenin Reconstruction Committee to list the damages left by the occupation when it stormed the city a few days ago, in order to start rebuilding what was destroyed by this occupation, whose attacks never stop.

The occupation forces also do not stop carrying out violent incursions, as happened two days ago in the Sabreen camps, Nur Shams and Askar, which led to injuries and the demolition of homes, and at the behest of President Abu Mazen, the removal of the effects of the aggression against Nur Shams camp and other areas has begun. Among these measures, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Dr. Riyad Al-Maliki pleaded with the authority to the International Court of Justice in The Hague, in which he mentioned all the aggressions practiced by Israel against the land and the people and demanded that the necessary legal measures be taken.

The occupation will not stop these immoral and illegal practices except with the steadfastness and steadfastness of our people and their adherence to their rights despite all the challenges and arrogance that the occupation exercises with the immoral military force that it boasts of and mistakenly believes that it is able to seize our land through it, but history is the greatest witness that every occupation is to disappear and that the land For its owners only, and this is what will happen with us, and the occupation will see that, whether time is long or short..!!

The humiliation of Israeli democracy!

Attorney Ibrahim Shaaban

Attorney Ibrahim Shaaban

Opinion Writer

The Israeli media, whether heard, visual, or read, has been praising the unique Israeli democracy, and extolling it in the arena of Arab domination and individual rule. This was accompanied by a tidal wave in the Western media praising Israeli democracy, with sweeping Western political support for the Zionist colony established on Palestinian lands., which encouraged accusing any person or entity that criticized the Israeli behavior of being anti-Semitic.

This common saying collapsed in recent days after the Israeli Knesset adopted a law to limit its jurisdiction and prevent the Israeli Supreme Court from addressing decisions issued by the Israeli government or its workers on any level. Rather, it considered them immune and does not accept any way of review, under the pretext that the Israeli government is elected By the people, and that the court is appointed by appointment, and the appointee cannot stand in the face of the elected or in the face of achieving its goals. The will of the people, who possess all three powers: executive, legislative, and judicial.

The truth is that the claim of Israeli democracy is false and does not stand up to the universally accepted legal and political rules formulated in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the 1966 Covenants of Civil, Political, Social, Economic and Cultural Rights. In times of armed conflict, it becomes meager compared to what is included in international humanitarian law, especially the Fourth Hague Conventions of 1907 and the Fourth Geneva Convention of 1949, and international custom and international justice in the Nuremburg and Tokyo trials after World War II. The Rome Statute of 1998 confirmed it when it established the International Criminal Court.

Many people believe, either out of ignorance, naivety, or being drawn into the flames of public opinion and the various media outlets, that merely holding elections achieves democracy. This is a lot of confusion, because election is the only formal democratic means to assume political power in any country after other means such as coup, wealth and family failed to be a legitimate means to assume political power, but the pillars of democracy are another matter entirely different. The latter is a means that connects those who were elected to assume political power in a legitimate way. As for democracy, it is a set of values decided by political and legal scholars for all the inhabitants of the earth, with minor differences here and there.

At the head of these rules stands the principle of separation of powers. It is agreed that every country in this long world has three powers or (three powers as they say in the Maghreb), which are the legislative, executive and judicial powers. Each of these authorities has a specific competence, which it does not deviate from and cannot add to it except by amending the constitution in it. For example, no authority can attack another authority, otherwise we will be in a jungle where the strong eat the weak. And the strong here is the executive authority that owns the money, the army, the security, the staff, and even the media. Thus, the executive authority can besiege other powerless authorities, restrict their powers, and even blackmail them. This is what happened recently in the Israeli judicial reform legislation. Despite the appeasement of the Israeli judicial position and support for the Israeli governmental and military measures in the interior, the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, the matter has now deviated from this customary matter, to besiege and affect those who hold opinions contrary to the Israeli government. And the authority of the Israeli Supreme Court became restricted with regard to the decisions of the executive authority, as if the decisions of the Israeli government had become immune to any appeal against them. Consequently, the principle of separation of powers has become an effect after an eye, and therefore the Israeli executive authority can measure and decide according to its size and according to its desires, and this is what it began to do when it abolished the so-called reasonableness argument.

This constitutes a clear demolition of what has been called internal Israeli democracy. As for Israeli democracy towards Arab citizens and towards the people of the West Bank and Gaza Strip, it has not existed since it was militarily occupied by the Israeli occupation forces.

The state's legal systems emphasize the need for a constitution to define the boundaries between the three authorities and to protect individual rights and freedoms in order to achieve democracy. The entity is considered one of the few political groupings in this world that does not have a constitution, despite the passage of more than seven decades since its founding, while the United States enacted a constitution nearly two and a half centuries ago. And the matter does not need much thinking, because Israeli democracy did not want the Palestinian Arab citizen to enjoy the benefits of democracy, so it did not seriously seek to draw up a constitution for this new grouping, although all the new political groupings in this world took as a first step after their independence to draw up a constitution that outlines their democracy and political system. . But the Israeli democracy refused to do that, so that the Palestinians inside would remain captive to the emergency regulations of 1945 and not come close to achieving their civil, political, economic, social and cultural rights.

Israel is rightfully accused of being a state of apartheid, and this accusation in itself is enough to destroy the claim of Israeli democracy altogether. It seems that the entity tried to deny this racial discrimination by joining the Charter of Civil and Political Rights of 1966 and the Charter for the Prohibition of Torture of 1984. However, this accession did not negate the reality of Israeli racial discrimination, but rather it was a means to sow ashes in the eyes. A closer look at the issues of urban planning, organization, housing, budgets, health and education reveals flagrant racial discrimination towards the Palestinian Arab citizen. In serious issues related to freedoms, opinion, movement, marriage, children, land and real estate, racial discrimination appears more clearly. Perhaps what is happening in terms of killing in the Arab community in the Palestinian interior and the failure of the Israeli security forces to stop this phenomenon in which the agents of Israeli democracy participate is a matter that calls for questioning. Among the manifestations of Israeli democracy is the prevention of love between the Palestinians and the reunion of them, their children and their families in a vile law that is renewed annually in the purity of true Israeli democracy. As for the issue of torture, which the Israeli Supreme Court called moderate physical pressure, as if it was coordinating the issue with the Israeli security services to pass and authorize it against the Palestinian citizen, it is an issue in itself that proves without any doubt the weakness of Israeli democracy.

The problem is that the entity has agreed and ratified these international conventions that prohibit violations of human rights, and it practices them heart and soul.

Israeli democracy legitimized and authorized the seizure of the occupied Palestinian lands, financed the establishment of the settlements, and even provided them with financial, tax and logistical facilities. How can a democracy be based on the occupation of the land of others, and for this democracy to accept that the occupation continues for five and a half decades, and to control another people and even enslave them in cheap labor and temporal and spatial restrictions? Isn't the occupation temporary in nature and according to its charters? Isn't the establishment, planning, financing and inhabiting of settlements a war crime and a flagrant violation of the rules of international humanitarian law, which is a cornerstone of democracy? Is it reasonable for the Israeli Supreme Court to adopt an approach that contradicts the International Court of Justice in its advisory opinion on the wall, rather than respecting it? Does democracy allow, through its racial discrimination, that some Israeli judges are settlers and residents of the settlements, and that the Palestinians do not enjoy their lands and freedoms?

If there is democracy in Israel, why does it not join the International Criminal Court in The Hague, as democracies around the world do? Why not accept the delegations of the United Nations to investigate many Israeli crimes, including the killing of Sherine Abu Aqleh?

Why not allocate land for the young generation in the Arab regions? Why not stop the Arab bloodshed in order to protect the right to life and physical integrity? Why do you not respect the religious freedom of Muslims in Al-Aqsa Mosque, the Dome of the Rock, and the religious places of all Palestinians?

The right-wing Israeli shovel of demolishing the limited Israeli democracy that belongs to Israelis exclusively, this time affected a stronghold that I believe is untouchable, which is the Israeli Supreme Court, from which the Palestinian has always suffered, and its judiciary and judges. It seems that the rope on the tractor and the upcoming Israeli legislative chain will make the Israeli judiciary an obedient tool in the hands of a political party and make it lose its impartiality and independence, and make the alleged Israeli democracy an effect after an eye!!!

Jenin camp.. A special geography in a burning history

Sri Beaver

Sri Beaver

Opinion Writer

The Jenin camp after the battle of April-April 2002 was a material that dominated media coverage, and inspired drama makers (films and series), researchers, writers, and novelists whose heart opened, so they wrote a lot about the camp. Indeed, that camp battle was the subject and focus of postgraduate theses in more than one Palestinian university. and non-Palestinian.

With the passing of the years, events and other places dominated the news bulletins, and the people of the camp became preoccupied with their lives and tried to live as much as they could. They paid a huge bill of blood. Between 2000-2006, 1% of the camp's population was martyred, and every prisoner behind bars, and another who is released reminds them of that stage they lived through.

Two decades later, the Jenin camp returned to the fore after the formation of the "Jenin Brigade" and the assassination of Sherine Abu Aqleh, a correspondent for Al-Jazeera channel, who visited Jenin and the camp as part of her profession many times, and covered events in different places for many years, so that she was destined to eliminate the camp's land in May 2022.

As if the camp, with its symbols, insists on always attending, and the events continued until the camp witnessed an invasion that reminded the Palestinians and the world of the 2002 invasion, on July 3 and 4, 2023, and it lasted 40 hours, and resulted in 12 martyrs and 100 wounded, some of whom were in difficult condition, with great destruction of infrastructure and homes. And the displacement of nearly 4,000 camp residents, many of whom are women, children, the elderly, and the sick.

Why Jenin camp?
I will not delve into the details of what happened, as the screens of satellite channels and news websites are full of this, and the political and military analyzes from various parties are rich in what spares me from much talk?

However, there was an aspect that few took away from the (ideal) utopia or circled around it, which is why the Jenin camp receives such attention? Countries are rushing to rebuild what was destroyed by the occupation, and important satellite channels are racing to cover its events, and before that, why, for the second time, is a situation or a special case of resistance to the occupation crystallizing inside the camp that is unique in the West Bank?

This leads to another question: Why did the rest of the regions, including the vicinity of Jenin camp, not have a situation similar to that of the camp? Including other refugee camps that had connections with the occupation in previous stages? Why is the Jenin camp the unique icon that continues so far?

These questions make us look from another angle; Due to its importance and its immersion in the roots and essence of the steadfast state of defiance of the occupation, while the coverage often focused on the phenomenon or manifestations of the situation.

Jenin camp in a special geography
In a hurry, and as a reminder, not the definition, because a lot has been published about this; The Jenin camp is located west of the city of Jenin, adjacent to Marj Bani Amer, one of the most fertile plains of the Fertile Crescent, and located in the north of the West Bank, which was occupied after the defeat of 1967 and belonged to Jordan civilly, militarily and politically, of course.

UNRWA (United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees) established the camp on the lands of Jenin in 1953 and its area is currently less than half a square kilometer (a new adjacent area of 14 dunums was added to the camp as part of the donation of the late UAE President Sheikh Zayed Al Nahyan to rebuild what was destroyed by the occupation in the 2002 invasion ) Its population is currently about 12 thousand people, and to note that there are other estimates of the population that are higher than this figure taken from the Central Bureau of Statistics in Palestine, and it is not far from the social reality, because it takes into account that the residents of the neighborhoods surrounding the camp are from the north (Al-Zahraa ) and the West (Al-Hadaf and Wadi Burqin) and the South (Al-Jabriyat), the overwhelming majority of whom were residents of the Jenin camp and are related to it because they hold the status of Palestinian refugees according to the Palestinian definition and United Nations resolutions, in addition to, of course, the social, economic, political and other ties.

Jenin camp is adjacent to the government hospital (Martyr Dr. Khalil Suleiman Hospital), which was established a few years after the establishment of the camp during the Jordanian administration, and bore its current name, because the director of the Red Crescent Center, Dr. Khalil Mahmoud Suleiman, was martyred in the first week of March 2002. During an Israeli military operation called "A Journey in Colors" that targeted a group of camps in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, and failed in the Jenin camp; Dr. Khalil was riding an ambulance and entered the camp to evacuate the wounded, when a force from the occupation army fired a shell that completely burned his body when he was in his seventies.

Dr. Khalil hails from the town of Arraba, southwest of Jenin, and lives in a house in the city of Jenin, not far from the camp to the east.

And he recounted this event to indicate that the blood of those who are not from its residents from different segments of the occupation fire is spilled on its land. When the occupation makes no difference between a resistance fighter like Youssef Qabha (Abu Jandal) from the town of Ya`bad, or a doctor like Khalil Suleiman, or a journalist like Sherine Abu Aqleh.

To the best of my knowledge, there is no area like the Jenin camp that has this distinction or privacy, where the blood of people from different regions mixes and entered it for different reasons, and what unites them is the injustice and aggression of the occupation.

On the western side of the Jenin camp is a cemetery where the bodies of the martyrs and the dead are buried, and this prompted some young men to joke with a defiant tone against the enemies: Beware of the camp, for the first is a hospital and the last is a cemetery!

There are no large separating spaces between the camp houses of the UNRWA administration, its customs and laws, and the houses of the nearby city of Jenin, of the municipality of Jenin, as there is a clear overlap in the areas adjacent to the camp.

Jenin and a history of conflict with the invaders
Jenin is a relatively small city, but it is ancient (Canaanite) and witnessed many events. What we care about is the resistance to the invaders, and they are the reason for the lack of long periods of stability and calm in Jenin. The people of Jenin and its villages resisted Napoleon's French campaign and inflicted heavy losses on his army - accompanied by the Ottomans - so he ordered the burning of the city!

During the period of the British Mandate, Jenin had rounds and rounds, and Jenin is only mentioned in association with the name of the martyr Sheikh Izz al-Din al-Qassam, who was martyred in the woods of the nearby town of Ya`bad in 1935. When the great revolution broke out in 1936, Jenin, its people, and its mujahideen had distinctive imprints in fighting the British and attacking the Jewish colonies.

The British demolished large parts of its buildings in retaliation for the killing of a senior English officer at the hands of a Mujahid from the town of Qabatiya (Ali Abu Ein) in 1938.

Good education is the way to liberation and emancipation from oppression

Civilization, scientific progress, and the well-being of people are measured by their educational educational system. The supreme role of education is to provide life, freedom, peace, achieve social justice for all, and create responsible citizens who benefit the society to which they belong, trained to defend the homeland and establish security and justice in it, and to enable them to live luxuriantly and aspire to a better life. better.

However, good education requires good governance, as it is necessary for sustainable social and economic development. Requiring certain competencies for lifelong learning. Skills such as critical thinking, problem-solving, and digital literacy represent an urgent and great necessity for those entering the labor market, whether local or global. However, most of the current Arab systems are unable to adequately educate students in these vital areas.

The prevailing education in our Arab countries reflects a deteriorating reality that does not achieve self-realization or the slightest ambition. Rather, it has become an issue of national security. Most of the problems of the educational system are due to the instability of policies in it. The philosophy and vision of the ruling regimes (dictatorship) are governed by their ideologies, and by repressive laws that are imposed on the educational system. Education, education is transformed into a part of the security system of the ruling regime, which aims to secure the security of the regime with a disciplined system and the upbringing of the submissive, submissive and oppressed citizen, so the educational institution is transformed into a coercive institution, robbed of rights and freedom, what takes the form of the political system itself, and what is meant by oppression are those standards and procedures , and the laws that shape people and adjust their nature, then put pressure on their minds so that they believe, for example, that poverty and social injustice are two natural facts that cannot be avoided in human existence, and this is only done when influence and power are with a few people, and the illusion is in the minds of everyone.

In order to increase the power of the influential person and to ensure his continuity and control over his weak people, the first thing he controls and is in his grip is an education decree that does not encourage thinking and analysis, in addition to the existence of gaps between theory and practice in the field of educational policy, so education suffers from many disturbances, as the systems have adopted education Traditionally, its method of indoctrination is to disable the latent energies of the learner, as schools develop study plans based on an imposed curriculum that requires each student to study according to a specific system, certain subjects that cannot be tampered with, and the student has no opinion, participation, or room to criticize or influence this system.

The policy and teaching of schools creates a student who hates the school and its academic subjects and is committed to a reprehensible commitment, and he has to retrieve what was deposited and not what was digested and analyzed, and after that comes the assessment of the specialized teacher, who in turn determines the student’s entitlement to success or failure, or classifies him as smart or has limited capabilities, and what will be His university specialization and what work he will work in later, which will frame his social classification and his intellectual and mental level under this system.

Brazilian thinker Paolo Febrere mentioned in his book "Educating the Oppressed" that education under these systems aims to adapt students to adapt to a world in which they are forced to obey its decisions without thinking or discussion. He called it Banking Education, in which the teacher deposits the information it contains. Courses that the system wants in the minds of learners, and the student is only a recipient of information and not a producer of it. The success of this science is measured by the efficiency of the teacher in filling in and the efficiency of the students in filling in.

This type of education is developed among the learners, called the “Culture of Silence”. Always need their administrators. Strict regimes that educate submission, as the (oppressive) ruler only sees in these groups that they are minorities and fragile, weak and worthless groups, and the issue of educating the (oppressed) people weakens the oppressor's view of himself. Therefore, their goals are achieved by making the education process a banking process, which enhances and increases their exploitation and domination over the oppressed groups. He needs his surrender and his will to change the bitter reality in which he lives. This guarantees the production of repeated templates of people that contribute to adaptation to the existing situation, and do not seek to change it, no matter how compelling it may be. This is evident in Freire's vision of education, where he considered education as a political process.

The education system in this case is under threat. It is unidirectional, even if it is of great quality. It educates and appoints recipient students. Their success or failure is based on their ability to adapt within the set standards system despite their intellectual differences. Hence we see that education cannot be Never a neutral process, the decision to educate the people is a political decision, and it has a political purpose, if it is indoctrination, then it entrenches oppression and subjugation, or a tool to change the status quo and create a more democratic and inclusive state that enables them to live in peace and prosperity if it is through the dialogue method.

Education is the way to liberation:
Therefore, there is an urgent need to reform education in order to make education a tool for change and an entry point for revolution, and a path to liberation by creating critical awareness. And instilling confidence in the hearts of the learners and teaching them hope, and this is done through the presence of the revolutionary teacher (educator) who has the ability to present the problems and issues a participant requested and is able to integrate them with real knowledge and skill so that the students (who are no longer submissive listeners) become researchers, critical participants in a dialogue with the teacher, and he By raising awareness using methods that develop thinking outside the box, due to his confidence in his students and their ability to change and create.

And their participation in exchanging information and benefiting from each other's experiences using the dialogic method based on solving problems and conducting discussion and dialogue away from memorization, indoctrination and traditional methods. This is a stage of struggle for the learner to obtain what he wants. The task of the teacher is to highlight life issues that make them feel their reality and the injustice practiced against them.

Encouraging them to acquire knowledge on their own. By turning them into actors in the educational process, and in this way, authoritarianism and intellectual tendency are overcome.

The essence of the educational reform that we want is manifested in the presence of emancipatory education that creates humanization and removes the veil from the eyes of the (oppressed) learners to see the reality as it is, so that they have the task of struggling to liberate themselves from dependence and reception, so it begins to liberate itself by itself, and when they liberate themselves, they can liberate others. It is a revolution in the field of education and the struggle for national progress, freedom and participation in development. There must be a struggle to eliminate corruption through education so that societies can obtain their rights.

The teacher is no longer just the person who teaches, but also the person who learns because of his dialogue with the students, who play their role in teaching at the time they learn. They become responsible for a process in which they grow and grow. And it enhances the confidence of each of them in himself because of his ability to perform his role creatively, and this will lead him to a free process in which he finds himself before he finds knowledge, and takes it out to the compulsive reality to liberate him, which is what Freire has demanded since he developed his theory on education.

In sum, the only tool in the process of liberation is that education is a tool for change and reform using dialogue. It requires love as well as humility, and trust between teachers and learners in what deals with their creative and critical ability. It is a common hope to know and comprehend the world and facts. Education is a process of social change and liberation and a path to freedom, which begins when the teacher asks himself about the issue that he will make a topic for dialogue with his students so that the material becomes the subject of treatment and dialogue in its formulation and construction between the teacher and the learner. Awareness and critical outlook are the keys to education, understanding the world, and changing it.

Israel and its army... the model is broken!

Dr. Hassan Abu Talib

Dr. Hassan Abu Talib

Opinion Writer

The research, studies and articles written in the recent past on the Israeli army are endless. Most of them focused on the role played by the army in building and protecting the state and supporting its security and existence in the face of its enemies. It is true that the Israeli army faced many setbacks, as in the October 1973 war, the aggression against Lebanon in 2006, and the withdrawal from southern Lebanon by a unilateral decision in 2002. However, through revisions and specialized committees, he was able to correct some of the causes of those stumbling blocks, seeking to restore what he was promoting of prestige, superiority and an unbreakable army. At the present time, the challenges are different, and their source is internal, ambition, domination, and the predominance of individual interest.

The ruling philosophical direction of the Israeli army since its inception is that it is the melting pot in which all components of Israeli society melt, whatever their origin, previous nationalities, ideological and religious positions, and political orientations, for one goal, which is to protect the entity that was built since 1948. The melting pot of differences based on a higher goal From everyone and everyone agrees on it, it makes the army a symbol and a role model that generations are brought up on, and it is the main concept on which the idea of structural and functional interdependence between effective reserve units and regular units is built; The first served in the army before, but its members continue to volunteer with their full satisfaction to carry out the military tasks that are required of them without any resentment or refusal, and they are summoned for regular training in order to preserve their capabilities and combat readiness, and the second is regular units that work according to orders and instructions until their service ends, and they turn into Reserve forces. The two components complement each other. The collapse of one drags the other with it to the same fate.

The Israeli experience makes the reserves an essential force in the military combat construction, and when that force refrains from performing its roles, what official and unofficial Israeli sources describe will certainly be affected by the readiness of the army as a whole to deter its enemies. itself an impossible matter. This task is entrusted to the current Chief of Staff, Helvey, who was appointed only half a year ago, and repeats in various councils, according to Israeli military analysts, that what is happening now in the political arena and the opposition to amendments to the judicial system undermines everything he plans to do, and makes his mission almost impossible, which is what He justifies his demand for the government to stop these amendments, to protect the cohesion of the army and to prepare for any emergency of a regional nature.

The leaks reveal the other position, which Prime Minister Netanyahu and his ministers from the extreme right insist on. The amendments passed, before the Knesset passed, and the amendment will turn into a law according to plan. Netanyahu knew that the state could bear the downtime of some flocks of planes, but it could not abandon a government that runs its business. The reference here is directed mainly at the reservists of pilots and ground service providers for the military aviation, who are estimated to number more than one thousand and one hundred elements, and who threatened to stop them from their reserve service if the amendments they see pass that make Israel a country ruled by an authoritarian, corrupt and theocratic government, which makes their willingness to risk their lives meaningless.

Air Force Reserve threats expand to include weapons and other units, ground, intelligence, and medical services. It is matched by threats from the Minister of Defense to hold these people accountable legally for refusing to serve, and harsh criticism from the right-wing ministers who branded the reservists as treason and aiding the enemies. Dialogue like this turns former heroes of Israeli society into traitors who must be mercilessly suppressed. This symbolic meaning puts the Israeli army and its model on which it was based as a role model and an example of integrity, solidarity, dissolving differences and sacrifice for the sake of all in another category, a negative and bitter category, according to the description of one of the reserve commanders.

So far, there have been no direct effects of the position of the reservists, especially the combat pilots who reject the amendments, on their counterparts in the regular service. Official instructions prohibit any discussions within the regular units. There is a desperate attempt to distance political divisions from the general mood of the regular units. However, no one can be certain of the ability to prevent any unrest, even a slight one, among the uniformed personnel, especially since in some units and sectors of the Israeli army there are sectarian and ethnic divisions, between the liberal Ashkenazim, who are concentrated in the Air Force and electronic services, and among the Mizrahi Jews, who are more concentrated in the Ground weapons, and they depend on the Air Force to protect them during operations.

The breaking of the example and the shattering of the code has already happened. Restoration and reform will require time, according to regular standards, upbringing and recruiting methods. Separating the Israeli army as an integrated security structure and structure from the policies of the government, that is, the current or future government, is unimaginable. Both rely on one main and sacred mission for society as a whole, which is to protect it and deter its enemies, according to popular belief. The fascist right’s perception of excluding all Israeli political forces and social components from participating in the administration of the state represents a watershed in the Israeli political system, and with it many watersheds in the structure and roles of other judicial, legislative, and executive institutions, and all security institutions, which are led by the army with its various branches. .

The objection expressed by the reserve forces is not directed at the amendments per se, but at their expected results on the overall structure of the state on the one hand, and on their interests as individuals, the vast majority of whom are eligible to be subjected to war crimes trials, especially in European countries that allow such cases to be filed, and before the International Criminal Court. , because of their participation in the killing of innocent civilians, in Lebanon, Syria, Sinai and the Jordan Valley, and in the occupied West Bank and Gaza Strip. The fear of stigmatizing Israel as a country with a non-independent judicial system is what haunts the objectors out of caution, and their families.

The failure of the Israeli model as a “democratic” state, which its supporters promote without examining and examining what it is doing against the Palestinians, no longer needs new evidence. Even the Israelis themselves, who risked their lives for it, are now questioning the fate of their country, and the loss of what they thought was the model and ideal. In agreement with the "Middle East".

Deliberate provocation by suspicious elements linked to organized hostile apparatus targeting the Holy Qur’an, or by narrow-minded malevolent elements who were persecuted by ISIS and Al-Qaeda before they fled to Sweden or elsewhere, both of which are: 1- Suspicious elements, 2- Malevolent elements, no deserve a response or attention.

Suspicious elements associated with hostile agencies work to direct the rudder and track of attention from core issues affecting the national, national or religious interests of our Arab and Islamic peoples, and direct them towards an imaginary and worthless enemy represented by limited elements, through an act that affects the convictions and principles entrenched in the awareness and premises of the believers of our peoples.

Or by elements who bore the criteria of blind hatred for the reason they were subjected to pain and torture in Syria and Iraq at the hands of Islamic extremism policy organizations, so they bore the effects and consequences of hatred under the delusion that harming the Holy Qur’an will provide them with revenge and compensate for the harm they were subjected to.

First of all, we as Muslims respect all the heavenly books, from the Bible, the Torah, and others, whether we agree with some of their contents or what they brought, or we disagree, but we obligatory respect the faith of Christians and Jews, so that they respect our faith, our faith, and our heritage, and therefore mutual respect must prevail away from politics and its corridors, contradictions and contradictions. In Palestine, we confront the Zionist-Israeli colonial expansionist project, because it is a colonizer who occupied our country Palestine, the Golan Heights and South Lebanon, and practices oppression and oppression and denies the right to life for the Palestinian people and the return of refugees who were expelled and displaced from Lydda, Ramla, Jaffa, Haifa, Acre, Safed, and Beersheba, and the recovery of their looted property from and over it, and the transgression On our Islamic and Christian sanctities.

But regardless of the motives of suspicious or hateful people, the responsibility often rests with the host country that allows harm to the faith of Muslims, and that it does not allow these immoral, undemocratic, unclean manifestations in their content, effects and consequences.

On the other hand, we have the right to defend and protect our faith, but we must not succumb to manifestations of reactions that make us shaken before the world. Our faith and our Qur’an have withstood hundreds of years against the attacks of many enemies of different nationalities, colors, and aspirations. Therefore, we will not be shaken by the behavior of suspicious, deliberate parties, or malevolent elements. Narrow-minded, and this must be dealt with consciously and with focus on the base of interests and ties that unite us with civilized peoples, not to lose our focus because of the barbaric and extremist behavior of an individual or individuals.

We trust our consciousness, our belief, and our belief in what is right, and not to be led by an action that will not diminish the value of what we believe is right, permanent, and stable in us and in our souls.

The heart of Netanyahu and the heart of Israel

Nabil Amr

Nabil Amr

Opinion Writer

After a family picnic, which Benjamin Netanyahu spent on the shores of Lake Kinneret, the prime minister fell ill, and his heart was filled with worries, which required the implantation of a device to organize his work, and by doing so, the heart of the state stopped for hours, during which the cabinet meeting was postponed. In order to mitigate the impact of the health situation on public opinion in Israel, he was not named an acting prime minister, which gave the impression that the situation did not require that, until he was hospitalized again, and his partner in the risk of reforming the judiciary, Yariv Levin, was named acting, and he was not Netanyahu, while under medical supervision, refuses to announce that he will leave the hospital within hours to join the “Knesset” to vote on one of the most important problematic items in the judicial reform project, called the “reasonableness” item, which, when approved in the “Knesset” for the second and third readings, will lead to a crisis. Greater Israel is a new turning point, which is estimated to be the most dangerous for the state, and not for the government and the coalition that makes it up.

The heart of Netanyahu, who will work in an organized way, is similar to the heart of Israel that is burdened with worries that have not benefited from it until now, neither the injections of strengthening nor the remedial measures, and there is no doubt that the heart of Netanyahu seems to be in a better condition than the heart of the state, which is getting more turbulent with each passing day, and its latest manifestation is the strike of the pilots on training. Threatening thousands of members of the armed forces and security services, who are in service and retired, that they will escalate their rebellion if Netanyahu’s coalition persists in its game and refrains from stopping the vote on the “reasonableness” clause in the process of reforming the judiciary.

The story of the pilots and members of the army and security services, despite its direct danger to the security of the state and the readiness to work in attack and defense, comes second to the possibility of the “Histadrut” carrying out a comprehensive strike, which means complete paralysis in public life in all its aspects, recalling what happened a few weeks ago, when he joined The Histadrut of the protests, and the terrible paralysis that forced Netanyahu to postpone the vote; Especially since he was forced to move from his home to Ben Gurion Airport, tens of kilometers away by land, by military helicopter, because he could not pass to the airport, and this happened for the first time with him, and perhaps with other heads of government!

The verse of pre-Islamic poetry, some of which say: “So we are ignorant above the ignorance of the ignorant” seems exactly as if it is the most accurate description of the government and the opposition’s dealings with the major and ongoing crisis. It is the beginning of surrender and betrayal of the street, and the coalition - so far - is not willing to submit to the opposition's demands, as it is certain that submission this time will lead to losing the battle, and later to losing the government.

Netanyahu's heart, which was organized by advanced technology, endured crises and challenges as others who preceded him in power could not bear, until his leadership career became associated with fierce battles, sometimes from within his political house, the "Likud", and at other times from his main allies, from the various formations. The right-wing movement that brought him to the point where his coalition with them is a crucial matter for him, without ignoring his silent and declared crises with the American administrations, starting with Obama and even Biden, which were punctuated by a short period of rest, when Trump ascended to power to produce the “deal of the century” that Archive deposited, possibly until further notice!

The major crisis in Israel is likely to worsen and become intractable, and is no longer just an internal crisis between the government and the opposition, and between the street and parliament. Rather, it extended beyond the borders of the state, and the most important thing that Israel values is the alliance relationship with the United States, which has a special dimension, related to the army and security services.

So far, it seems that the American calls for mutual concessions that lead to broad understandings about the process of reforming the judiciary and its close connection to democracy and the quality of governance have been futile, including the invitation of the head of state before; And even as a substitute for the prime minister, to the White House and Congress.

Despite its direct interventions in the crisis since its inception, and despite its veiled and sometimes explicit threats, the administration has failed to do what really frightens Israel, which is the US's recalibration of the relationship with it.

Finally... Netanyahu's heart got an effective organizer who has the ability to organize his work, but what has not yet been invented is that organizer that the heart of the state needs, while it is in the depth of the most dangerous and longest crisis it has been suffering from since its founding, to what is not known when it will end and what it will result in. !

After 16 years in the scene of governance and politics: Hamas and the Gaza Strip, where to?!

Dr. Ahmed Youssef

Dr. Ahmed Youssef

Opinion Writer

The Palestinian citizen in the Gaza Strip has the right to ask: How long do we need to improve our living conditions and feel safe and reassured about the future of our children? Is there a near relief looming on the horizon, or is the case a continuation of fanfare in the place without hope or wishes!!

As for the question of the educated elite (the intelligentsia), which is burdened with frustration, disappointment, and mistrust, it revolves around: the possibility of new intentions and wills to come down from the tree after its trunk has reached, its branches intertwined, and the soil around it has dried up, as if I were about to fall by itself!!

The question that is repeated on the tongues of many public and private, and in the language of blame and admonition: Why are initiatives absent and we do not hear many new proposals, and even if this happens, they are quickly obliterated and finished off or marginalized?! And the rope - unfortunately - is left on its own for guesses and more accusations, and the bad intentions that this or that party harbors!!

Among the legitimate questions concerning Hamas in this regard is the reason behind the movement’s delay in the Gaza Strip in presenting an initiative or presenting an approach that relieves it of embarrassment, and the street’s accusations that it will not give up power or even open the door to partnership in it, although there is a lot Among the attempts that ended with meetings and broad smiles, the result was (Titi, Titi, as you went, you came)!!

Today, the age of the Hamas movement in the scene of governance and politics has exceeded sixteen years, and the people’s complaint here in the Gaza Strip still exists: Why has political life been disrupted, as there are no new parties, no municipal or union elections, not even students!! And the professional elections that took place - despite their fewness - were dominated by the character of (partisan collages), which had nothing to do with democratic life or its flavor!! As for the generations of university graduates during the last fifteen years - and they are in the tens of thousands - they say that democracy was a motto in the life of our early fathers!!

And with these questions that we raise, this question imposes itself: Isn't it the right of these generations to enjoy a decent life, to be part of the democratic act, and to witness real competitions in which they have a role in shaping the future of their country and determining its destiny?! Is this generation required to surrender to the vision of the factions in order to live, even if it requires it to be a political hypocrite and devoid of human dignity?!

It is really unfortunate that, years before the division, we were holding municipal and legislative elections, but the calculations of this or that party complicated the scene and thwarted the attempt, and we returned to the square of arguments and accusations, and the street was stunned. Because the truth was clear, and the sieve of Fatah and Hamas did not succeed in obscuring it from the masses.

Today, the question posed to Hamas is that we live within the circle of its administrative and security mandate, and we have disengaged from the occupation. And that our political decision will be subject to our will since 2005, and we have previously held legislative elections in which the Hamas movement prevailed, and was able - with satisfaction - to form a government in its name.. Unfortunately, on June 14, 2007 things faltered, and armed confrontations took place, in which much blood was shed. Rivalry and wounds deepened.. We tried to overcome the catastrophe and heal the rift by signing the Mecca Agreement and forming a government of national unity, but the efforts were not crowned with success, and we failed to address our internal differences, and we all lost preserving the unity of the homeland, and lurking returned with the language of threat and intimidation, until the breach widened on the patch. To this day.

Today.. the stage and the questions!!
After 16 years of the arrival of Hamas on the scene of governance and politics, and its steadfastness in the face of all forms of war, Israeli aggression, international conspiracy and regional complicity, there are three questions that cannot be evaded or ignored, and the leadership of the movement - in the context of necessity - To provide answers to them, in order to preserve the vitality of the discussions within the popular incubator, as there are no taboos that restrict the spaces of dialogue or define what is permitted or prohibited to be discussed intellectually and nationally, and the citizen and his political elite can, in light of the world of questions and the strangeness of policies and positions, raise his voice with the question: To Where are we going? And what is our next stop? Is there a way out? Do I have the right to scream exhausted by the feeling of the dump on his face? Is there - really - any hope for an end to this division, and to see our masses on a straight path!!

We have four possible challenges ahead of us, and we must undertake them to create a national movement that can pave the way to a better future for the Gaza Strip and for our national project in general. In the past, they said: "If the determination is true, the way will be clear." Therefore, the "capable" challenges revolve around four directions, namely:

The first trend: municipal elections
I believe that there is nothing to prevent Hamas from holding these elections, as is the case in the West Bank, but perhaps the need here is more important, since the Gaza Strip is run by Hamas, which is what makes the West and many European countries in particular refrain from providing humanitarian aid and equipment vital to the municipalities of the sector. These are pretexts that we cannot argue with them. Due to the considerations of Western laws that limit their freedom of action humanely under the pretext of fighting terrorism.

The municipal elections are a clever attempt to close the door to pretexts, and open the way for the sector to integrate into the international community, and not push Hamas - as an act of resistance - into a corner.

The municipal elections, if they take place, will produce a national assembly that represents the Palestinian whole, and this whole will bear full responsibility, not Hamas alone.

The second trend: partnership in government management
After 16 years of Hamas managing the Gaza Strip, isn't it time for the nation's partners to be part of the management of government affairs? Yes; There are meetings of the National and Islamic Action Committee, but such meetings have nothing to do with managing public affairs, and do not reflect the spirit of partnership and national spectacle. Therefore, there must be a selection of national party figures or technocrats within the composition of the Government Action Committee, and this selection is motivated according to the data of competence, professionalism, and national partnership.

The third trend: student bloc elections

There is nothing to prevent holding elections inside institutes and universities, despite the state of polarization spread throughout the country, and we have witnessed intense competition among student blocs in West Bank universities such as An-Najah, Birzeit and Hebron, but - frankly - they were "bright", regardless of who issued the results of Al-Quoz in it from Fatah or Hamas, but it is a fact that serves as a model for general national elections.

I hope that no party will put a limitation on the launch of such elections, and that all parties will prepare for them in the Palestinian universities in the Gaza Strip.

The fourth trend: Opening the door to partisan political action
The main objective behind this is to revitalize political life and give an opportunity for the emergence of new political entities and leaders. Political life must regain its vitality by embracing a generation of promising youth within organizational frameworks other than those that were emptied of their content, due to years of estrangement and failure.

Many countries give priority to political development and urging young people to participate in elections and political action, given the importance of this matter in the process of peaceful transfer of power and the achievement of security and stability.

In conclusion, the municipal elections in the Gaza Strip today are an urgent demand, and there is no reason to delay it. It will not constitute coercion on Hamas, but rather a necessity to reduce its burdens, and provide a form of partnership in managing public national affairs.. We hope that this year will not pass without The decisive decision was taken to hold municipal elections before the end of next year.

A former American soldier was wounded while participating in the fighting in Ukraine

A former US Marine who spent more than two years imprisoned in Russia was wounded while fighting in Ukraine, the US State Department confirmed Tuesday.

Trevor Reed, who was released by Russia in April 2022 as part of a prisoner exchange deal, was transferred to Germany for treatment after suffering unspecified injuries while participating in the fighting alongside Ukrainian forces, according to US State Department spokesman Vedant Patel.

Patel stressed that Reid "was not involved in any activities representing the US government," stressing that he went to Ukraine to participate in the fighting by personal decision.

He revealed that Reid was taken to Germany with the help of a private non-governmental organization and is currently receiving medical care.

And US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken announced that he had no other information about Reed's condition or situation, but he again warned the Americans not to go to Ukraine.

"This confirms why we continue to call on the Americans not to travel to Ukraine and take part in the fighting there," he told a press conference during a visit to Tonga.

Blinken indicated that he does not expect Reed's case to have an impact on US efforts to return two Americans held in Russia, Ivan Gershkovich, a Wall Street Journal reporter, and Paul Whelan, a former US Marine.

"I expect that even as we deal with all kinds of other challenges in our relationship with Russia, we are ready and determined to continue working to bring Ivan and Paul home," he said.

Reid was a student at the University of Texas in 2019 when he went to Russia with his Russian girlfriend.

He was arrested on charges of assaulting law enforcement officers while intoxicated and sentenced to nine years in prison.

In April of last year, Russia released him after the White House negotiated a deal to exchange him for Konstantin Yaroshenko, a Russian pilot who was sentenced to 20 years in prison by a US court for drug trafficking.

White House spokeswoman Karen Jean-Pierre said the US government has been "extraordinarily forthright" in assuring citizens that they "should not travel to Ukraine, let alone participate in hostilities."

She indicated that she could not provide estimates of the number of Americans who might have volunteered to fight alongside the Ukrainian forces.

When asked if the Reed incident could complicate the efforts made by the United States to release other Americans imprisoned in Russia, according to Washington, Jean-Pierre said that they are "separate" cases.

A federal judge invalidates restrictions imposed by the Biden administration on immigrant asylum seekers

A federal judge on Tuesday issued a ruling invalidating the asylum policy imposed by President Joe Biden's administration more than two months ago, rejecting the principle adopted by this administration to stem the flow of migrants across the southern border.

Judge John Tygar of the San Francisco Federal Court ruled that the policy of forcing immigrants to apply for asylum from their countries of origin or countries of transit in order to gain admission to the United States was "unlawful".

More than two months ago, the Biden administration imposed a policy that punishes immigrants who cross the border illegally by rejecting their asylum applications, while accepting applications for those who receive asylum appointments before entering US territory.

This judicial decision may force the US government to accept asylum requests from immigrants who have entered US territory, leading to a new wave of immigrants from Mexico after a decline in the past two months.

But Judge Tygar suspended his ruling for 14 days to give the Biden administration time to appeal it.

And the Ministry of Justice announced that it will appeal the verdict, which it deems contrary to its convictions, indicating that it will, in the meantime, seek to postpone the implementation of Tygar's decision for as long as possible.

The department said in a statement that the rules introduced by the Biden administration in May are "a legal exercise of the broad authority conferred upon it by immigration law."

The ruling in a case brought by immigrant advocacy groups came immediately after the Biden administration announced on May 16 new measures aimed at stemming the flow of about 200,000 migrants across the southern border each month.

The organizations said Biden's policy presumes that migrants are not eligible to seek asylum directly at the border.

An American organization opposes Israel's entry into the US Visa Waiver Program

Americans for Justice in Palestine (AJP Action) has called for Israel to be denied entry to the US Visa Waiver Program.

The organization said that Israel does not meet the eligibility criteria for the visa program as a result of its continued systematic discrimination against US citizens and Palestinians, and in light of the restrictions on travel of Palestinian Americans to Gaza.

The organization believes that the escalation of protests and conflicts in Israel and the increase in international scrutiny of the authoritarian policies of the occupation government, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, requires a re-evaluation of the negotiating conditions for Israel's entry into the visa waiver program, and discrimination against American citizens should never be tolerated, especially in the context of a program based on Principles of mutual respect and equality.

The organization declared its solidarity with individuals who face such unfair treatment by the occupation authorities, its opposition to entering Israel into the visa waiver program, and delivering a message to the Biden administration that partial solutions to systemic discrimination in Israel are not sufficient, as the time has come for full accountability.

Israeli security sources believe next Jenin invasion is 'inevitable'

Israeli security establishment officials said on Wednesday  that a new military operation in the Jenin refugee camp is "inevitable," but that the scale will likely be smaller than the invasion at the start of this month.

Quoting security sources, Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth said that such an operation will last "a few hours," and will primarily aim to thwart the infrastructure of the armed cells.

The Israeli security establishment concedes that militants in the refugee camp have already began to restore their capacities, including gathering ammunition and producing explosive devices.

According to the newspaper, the Palestinian Authority's attempts to control the situation in Jenin and the refugee camp have not been enough, and Israel feels it cannot rely on them to quell the situation. The sources also emphasized that Israel is wary of undermining the PA further.

"Terrorism  cannot be thwarted in one operation," the source said, adding that incursions must occur "from time to time."

Extinguishing the majority of fires in Algeria and continuing 11

After destroying a large number of homes and shops, firefighters are still struggling Tuesday to put out the violent fires that struck northern and eastern Algeria, killing at least 34 people, including ten soldiers, since Sunday.

And a statement by the Ministry of Interior, Local Communities and Urban Planning said, "The civil protection interests succeeded in extinguishing most of the fires by 80 percent, after mobilizing without interruption throughout last night, strengthening field operations by land with human resources and equipment, and collaborating capabilities between the states."

The Civil Protection said in the afternoon that 11 fires were still burning in seven states in the north and east of the country.

Every summer, northern and eastern Algeria witnesses forest fires and agricultural lands, a phenomenon that worsens from year to year due to the impact of climate change that leads to droughts and heat waves.

In neighboring Tunisia, serious fires broke out in Tabarka, a border in the northwest, on Monday, in an area devastated by fire the previous week.

An AFP team was able to monitor significant damage and follow the intervention of helicopters and water bombers.

In Toga, in the northeast of the country, where 16 people died, the fire was almost completely contained, although some foci continued to burn, according to an AFP correspondent.

Since Sunday, about 100 fires have broken out in more than 15 governorates in Algeria, especially in Bouira, Jijel and Bejaia, areas that have already been affected in the past two years by serious fires that have killed about 130 people.

The Ministry of Defense said that the ten soldiers who died as a result of the fires were surrounded by fire while they were being evacuated from Bani Ksila in the Bejaia region, accompanied by residents of nearby villages.

The fires also injured more than 80 people, including 25 soldiers, in the Bejaia region, according to the local "Suman" radio.

The situation called for the evacuation of more than 1,500 people from some villages, as the fires approached their homes. The fires also destroyed seaside resorts that are popular tourist destinations in the summer.

The affected villages, many of which are located in the mountainous Kabylia region, are surrounded by dense forests and have been exposed to a severe heat wave for weeks, which recorded 48 degrees Celsius on Monday.

The heat wave dried up vegetation and made it more vulnerable to fires, which were fanned by high winds.

"I have nowhere to go. The fire destroyed my house and my son's house completely," said a woman in her seventies, crying on an Amazigh TV channel, after she lost her daughter-in-law and her granddaughter, in Ait Ousaleh, near Bejaia.

Footage released by local media showed fields and land on fire, charred cars and burnt storefronts. Witnesses told how the flames suddenly broke out.

In August 2022, massive fires claimed 37 lives in El Tarf Province, in northeastern Algeria. But the summer of 2021 recorded the largest death toll in decades when more than 90 people died in the fires that devastated the north, especially the Kabylie region.

On Monday, Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune sent his condolences to the families of the victims.

The authorities said that more than 8,000 civil protection personnel and 525 trucks of various sizes intervened to fight the fire, along with firefighting planes and helicopters that had been rented recently, in addition to a high-capacity launcher to throw water on the fires.

The Ministry of the Interior called on citizens to "avoid the affected areas and use the toll-free numbers available to report" the fires.

The Public Prosecutor in Bejaia ordered the opening of preliminary investigations to determine the causes of the fires and to identify the perpetrators.

To avoid repeating the scenario of 2021 and 2022, the authorities worked to mobilize their resources with the approach of summer.

At the end of April, President Tebboune ordered the purchase of six medium-sized water bombers and the submission of requests for proposals to startups to provide drones used to monitor forest cover.

Then, in May, the Ministry of the Interior announced the imminent acquisition of a water bomber plane, the leasing of six more planes from a South American company with its technical teams, and announcing the request for offers to purchase six medium-sized water bombers.

The authorities have also prepared helicopter landing sites in ten states.

Algeria also placed an order to Russia for the purchase of four water bombers, but their delivery was delayed due to "the repercussions of the crisis in Ukraine."
