Israeli political officials: The level of international legitimacy of the war on Gaza is declining

According to Israeli officials: “The story of the kidnapped people still helps, but internal considerations and the desire to pay compensation to Muslims and Arabs intervene. The longer the war continues and we move to a ground military operation, the decline in support for Israel will increase, especially in Europe.”

Israeli political officials said today, Sunday, that Western countries’ support for Israel in the war on Gaza, which they describe as “international legitimacy” for Israeli military strikes, has begun to decline in recent days, and demonstrations of solidarity with the Gaza Strip and against Israel in Western capitals are expanding.

These officials said, "The level of international legitimacy for Israel is declining. If the support rate at the beginning of the war was 70-80 percent, then the political hourglass is declining and we currently enjoy support at 60-70 percent," according to what the Ynet website quoted them as saying.

They considered that, "Unfortunately, the world is forgetting the atrocities and considerations are increasing among countries, especially internal considerations regarding Muslim demonstrations. In general, there is widespread support for Israel in the world, but it has begun to decline."

They pointed out that "the story of the kidnapped people still helps, but internal considerations and the desire to pay compensation to Muslims and Arabs intervene. The longer the war continues and we move to a ground military operation, the decline in support for Israel will increase, especially in Europe."

According to the same Israeli officials, “Support for Israel is still broad, but this is work that must be maintained at all times. This is not easy. The most important political hour is the United States and it is with us. However, this is a different war and not similar to previous rounds of combat. It should be taken into account that the pressure The policy on Israel will increase.”

The United Nations General Assembly adopts a draft Arab resolution calling for an immediate humanitarian truce in Gaza

The day before yesterday, the United Nations General Assembly called, by a large majority, for an “immediate humanitarian truce,” shortly after the Israeli army announced the “expansion” of its ground operations in the Gaza Strip. The non-binding resolution, which was criticized by Israel and the United States for not referring to the Hamas movement, was supported by 120 members, 14 opposed it, while 45 abstained from voting, out of 193 members of the General Assembly.

This result showed a division among Western countries, especially European countries, as France supported the resolution, while Germany, Italy, and Britain abstained from voting, and Austria and the United States voted against the resolution.
