Israel's Cabinet considers offering facilities to the PA

The Israeli Cabinet, the cabinet, convenes on Sunday evening to discuss providing economic facilities to the Palestinian Authority with the aim of strengthening it, in light of talk about the possibility of its bankruptcy and the deterioration of the security and political conditions.

According to the Hebrew Kan radio station, the security authorities will present many recommendations supported by the Shin Bet security service, as well as the Coordinator of Territorial Affairs, to the political level in order to approve these facilities.

Among the things that are expected to be approved are the establishment of an industrial zone in Tarqumiya, and the deduction of some debt funds for the benefit of the Israeli government, such as electricity and others. It is also expected that steps for the Palestinian Authority to obtain tax funds that Israel collects for its benefit will be facilitated, in addition to many other issues.

It is expected that the Cabinet session will witness strong opposition from far-right ministers to such decisions, which Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu may resort to approving with the support of his party's ministers and some of his allies.

The head of the Israeli National Security Council, Tzachi Hanegbi, said last night that Israel has no interest in the collapse of the Palestinian Authority.
