The US State Department condemns Ben Gvir's storming of Al-Aqsa and his return to Homesh

On Monday, the US State Department condemned the so-called Israeli Minister of National Security, Itamar Ben Gvir, storming Al-Aqsa Mosque on Sunday morning.

During the daily press briefing, US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller described Ben Gvir's "visit" to Al-Aqsa as provocative, worrisome, and alarming, considering his statements that accompanied his storming of Al-Aqsa as carrying an inciting tone.

He stressed the need not to exploit the holy places for political purposes, pointing out that the United States supports the status quo, calling on everyone to respect the sanctity of the Temple Mount / Al-Aqsa Mosque.

Miller also denounced the new Israeli military order that allows settlers to return to the evacuated Homesh outpost in the northern West Bank.

He said, "We are very disturbed by this decision, which is not in line with the commitments of the Israeli government towards the Biden administration," noting that it was built on private Palestinian land.

He added, "The continued construction of Israeli settlements in the West Bank constitutes an obstacle to achieving the two-state solution."
