The adoption of Palestine resolutions in the Human Rights Council on the right to self-determination

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the State of Palestine affirmed the adoption by the United Nations Human Rights Council, in its 52nd session, which completed its work today, Tuesday, April 4, of the two resolutions pertaining to Palestine under Item VII (7) of the agenda of the Human Rights Council, where an overwhelming majority of member states voted on The two resolutions.


The resolutions stipulate that the Israeli settlements in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem, where 38 countries voted in favor, 5 abstentions (Cameroon, Georgia, Lithuania, Romania, and Ukraine), and 4 countries against (Czech, the United States, the United Kingdom and Malawi) .


It also stipulates the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination, with 41 countries voting in favor of the resolution, 3 countries abstaining (Cameroon, Lithuania, and Romania), and 3 countries against (Czech Republic, the United States, and the United Kingdom.).


The Foreign Ministry thanked the countries and groups, including the brotherly and friendly countries that adopted, supported and voted unanimously in favor of the resolutions, and stressed that this vote constitutes a message to the fascist Israeli government and its colonial leaders that their crimes will not go unpunished, and that the land of the State of Palestine free of settlements is the place where The Palestinian people exercise their inalienable rights, foremost of which is the right to self-determination, and that there is no master on this land with Jerusalem as its capital, except for the Palestinians and their legitimate leadership.


The Foreign Ministry also stressed that countries must fulfill their obligations in confronting Israel's crimes and gross violations of human rights, and expressed its rejection of the positions of countries that did not support the decisions, their selectivity, their policies of double standards, their double standards, and their hypocrisy in dealing with human rights issues, especially when it comes to the need to expose and hold accountable. And holding Israel, the illegal occupying power, accountable for its crimes, and that the absence of taking positions and steps against human rights violations and voting has exposed these countries with their bad and negative voting, which is a black point in their record, and their unprincipled stances towards human rights, and shows their true thought that is inconsistent with human rights. The Foreign Ministry added that bad voting is encouragement, participation in crimes, and deliberate sabotage of the law-based multilateral international system.


The Foreign Ministry indicated that the adoption of Palestine's decisions comes at a time when it is necessary to confront and deter the plans of the Israeli fascist government, as confirmed by these decisions in the impermissibility of seizing lands by force or annexing any part of the land of the occupied State of Palestine, and that the transfer of the colonial occupation authority of parts of its civilian population to Our land constitutes a serious violation, a war crime that states must condemn, and hold its perpetrators accountable.


The Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed that the Palestinian diplomacy, through its mission in Geneva, has worked to preserve the international consensus on the rights of our people, in a way that contributes to protecting them, achieving national independence, ending the occupation, holding the criminals of the occupation accountable and holding them accountable for their crimes, confronting the colonial system, and achieving the inalienable rights of our people, especially Self-determination and return of refugees.


The Foreign Ministry called on the states and institutions of the international community to take clear and practical measures and steps in confronting crimes and illegal actions, implementing serious measures, including confiscating weapons and enforcing criminal penalties, ensuring full accountability for and preventing all acts of terrorism committed by Israeli settlers, and taking other measures to ensure safety. and protection for Palestinian civilians and Palestinian property and to enable all victims of settler violence to access justice and effective remedies without discrimination in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem, and stressed that states should not recognize this tragic reality imposed by Israel, the illegal occupying power, and not provide Aid, or assistance in perpetuating it and imposing a system of penalties and consequences on this occupation, leading to its accountability and accountability until the dismantling of this colonial and apartheid system. In the resolution on settlements, the State of Palestine also requested the High Commissioner to prepare a report on the extent of implementation of previous and current resolutions to the Human Rights Council at its 55th session.
