The President of the State of Palestine , Mahmoud Abbas, participated this evening, Sunday, in the Ramadan Iftar held by the Jordanian King Abdullah II, in the presence of Jerusalem figures, Muslim and Christian clerics, and a number of Palestinian and Jordanian dignitaries.
During his meeting with the Jordanian monarch in Amman , President Abbas stressed the important role he plays in preserving Islamic and Christian sanctities, and supporting Palestinian efforts in defending the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and their quest for freedom and independence.
He reaffirmed that we will spare no effort to continue our struggle at all levels, in order to end the Israeli occupation of the land of the State of Palestine with East Jerusalem as its capital, armed with the justice of our cause, the steadfastness of our people in places of refuge, in the homeland and in the diaspora, and with the sacrifices of the martyrs, wounded and heroic prisoners.
For his part, the Jordanian monarch stressed that it is the duty of every Muslim to deter the Israeli escalation against Islamic and Christian sanctities in Jerusalem.
He said, "We are with you forever, and you will prevail over all the challenges ahead of you."
The Jordanian monarch called on the international community to address the exclusionary and racist statements recently issued by some Israeli officials.
