Palestine protests the British-Israeli roadmap agreement

The Palestinian Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Hussam Zomlot , conveyed the protest of the State of Palestine against the 2030 road map that the United Kingdom signed with Israel yesterday, as it constitutes an injustice to the rights of the Palestinian people.

During his meeting with the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Lord Tariq Ahmed, at the headquarters of the British Foreign Office in London yesterday, Zomlot affirmed the Palestinian side's rejection of what was stated in the terms of the bilateral road map with Israel, describing it as a serious violation of international law and Britain's commitments to Palestinian rights according to international resolutions.

He added that it constitutes a dangerous precedent, as it did not mention the geographical borders of the agreement, the obligation to end the occupation on the 1967 borders and the illegality of settler colonialism, and Palestine was mentioned only in the context of improving the living conditions of the Palestinians.

Ambassador Zomlot expressed Palestine's rejection of Britain's opposition to the Palestinian efforts to address the International Criminal and Justice Courts and the United Nations Human Rights Council, calling on the British government to have a clearer position on the Palestinian issue and a more influential position in line with international law and agreements.

In turn, the British minister issued a statement on his Twitter account after this meeting, in which he expressed "the steadfastness of the United Kingdom's position on the two-state solution on the 1967 borders and its opposition to unilateral steps, including the construction of illegal Israeli settlements, according to international law."

Ambassador Zomlot, in turn, responded on his Twitter account, "This position needs a practical translation and concrete steps that include recognition of the State of Palestine with East Jerusalem as its capital, and the imposition of sanctions on the occupying state, including the ban on colonial settlement products."
