Egypt is hosting a quinquennial security meeting next Sunday to try to ease tensions before Ramadan

The Egyptian city of Sharm el-Sheikh will host a security meeting next Sunday, with the participation of the Palestinian Authority , the Israeli side, Jordan and Egypt, and the United States , which pressured a lot towards holding the meeting.

The meeting, which was agreed to be held during the " Aqaba Summit " that was held a few weeks ago, will discuss the situation in the Palestinian territories before the month of Ramadan.

Yesterday, the US envoy for Palestinian affairs, Hadi Amr , met with the Secretary of the Executive Committee of the PLO, Hussein Al-Sheikh , in preparation for the meeting.

The sheikh will lead the Palestinian delegation that will head to Sharm el-Sheikh in Egypt.

The Aqaba summit had led to decisions related to refraining from approving more settlement plans during the coming months, and stopping the incursions into Palestinian cities and killings, which the occupation publicly repudiated after the meeting hours.

The same delegation that participated in the Aqaba meeting will participate on behalf of Israel, headed by the National Security Adviser, Tzachi Hanegbi, in addition to the head of the Shin Bet, Ronen Bar, and the coordinator of the Israeli government’s activities in the occupied West Bank, Ghassan Alian, in addition to the Director General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ronen. levi.

The occupation seeks to try to reach an agreement to reduce security tension and consolidate the understandings that took place in "Aqaba".

In recent weeks, Palestinian officials have accused the occupation of evading the understandings reached in Aqaba. According to Israeli reports, the US President Joe Biden's administration demanded that the Israeli government provide clarifications, following Israeli officials' denial of the understandings.
