Al-Bireh - "Jerusalem" dot com - The institutions concerned with the affairs of prisoners, national figures, and the families of the prisoners called today, Tuesday, the Palestinian people to the need to engage in support activities for the prisoners in light of their implementation of "tactical" steps, which may lead to an open hunger strike early next month.
The Undersecretary of the Commission for Detainees and Ex-Prisoners' Affairs, Abdul Qadir Al-Khatib, said in a speech during a press conference organized in conjunction with the weekly sit-in at the Red Cross headquarters in Al-Bireh, "The prisoners have a tendency to confront the occupation's measures, which aim to punish them, withdraw their achievements and achievements, and impose punitive measures on them, In the context of competition in the upcoming Israeli elections.
Al-Khatib continued, "We are concerned about what is happening against the prisoners inside the prisons, in light of the start of their tactical steps, which may amount to an open strategic hunger strike."
Al-Khatib stressed that all the prisoners’ institutions and the national action factions are required to stand by the prisoners and provide aid, support, and real and real solidarity to them, and that the circle of participation in the activities supporting them expand, and not leave them as a prey for the occupation to devour as it wishes.
Al-Khatib said: "It must be emphasized that the prisoners paid the price of their lives in the prisons of the occupation for the sake of Palestine, and we must stand by them, by intensifying activities and everyone's participation in them, and the prisoners depend a lot on their people and their institutions, and we will not let them down."
For his part, the head of the Palestinian Prisoners Club, Qaddoura Fares, said in his speech, "The existing crisis in prisons is fabricated, as the occupation seeks to export its crises, and that the prisoners' struggle came to avert dangers and protect the rights and gains achieved by the captive movement through a bitter struggle."
Fares stressed that in light of the prisoners' tendency to escalate their steps, which may amount to a hunger strike, "the battle must not remain confined within the walls of the detention centers, and in light of the exploitation of the prisoners' issue for the Israeli electoral competition, we Palestinians are responsible not to leave the prisoners alone." And the battle must be in Palestine and the world, to assure the occupation that it cannot keep the issue of prisoners inside the prison walls.
Fares said: " The prison administration and behind it the so-called security apparatus and the Ministry of Internal Security want to export its crises, meaning that the failure that occurred to them they want to export it to the prisoners, especially after the great failure revealed by the heroic operation, Operation (Freedom Tunnel)."
In turn, the head of the Supreme Commission for the Follow-up of the Affairs of Detainees and Ex-Prisoners, Amin Shoman, said in his speech, "Last week, the prisoners were surprised by the return of racist decisions and laws that were suspended after an agreement concluded last March. to a hunger strike.
Shoman confirmed that solidarity and support activities for the prisoners were carried out today, Tuesday, in front of the Red Cross headquarters, and a series of activities will be announced, starting next week, including activities in front of the prison gates and in city centers, as the prisoners are on the verge of a real battle, and activities must be carried out. It rises to the size of that battle, calling on the Palestinian people to stand by the captive movement.
Meanwhile, the deputy secretary of the Central Committee of the Fatah movement, Dr. Sabri Saidam, said in a speech, "It is time to intensify efforts for the sake of the prisoners, and that all Palestinians must stand united in the face of the unjust occupation." .
On the other hand, the Governor of Ramallah and Al-Bireh, Dr. Laila Ghannam, said in her speech, "The current steps of the prisoners come in light of the presence of I see hunger strikers, and the sick prisoners are subjected to medical negligence, systematic killing, and an assassination policy."
In her turn, Iman Nafeh, the wife of the prisoner, Nael Al-Barghouti, confirmed in a speech to her, on behalf of the families of the prisoners, that the prisoners are not alone, stressing that the wives and families of the prisoners and those in solidarity with them will take steps, including a hunger strike, calling for a real stand with the prisoners, especially the sick prisoners and the one on strike.
