"Environmental Quality" submits a report on Israeli violations to the Special Committee to Investigate Israeli Practices

Jordan - "Jerusalem" dot com - The legal advisor of the Environmental Quality Authority, Prof. Murad Al-Madani, representative of the head of the Environmental Quality Authority, Dr. Nisreen Al-Tamimi with the Chairman of the Special Committee to Investigate Israeli Practices Affecting the Human Rights of the Palestinian People and Other Arabs in the Occupied Territories, Mr. Peter Mojhan Maithre Peiris, Permanent Representative of Sri Lanka to the United Nations in New York.


During the meeting, which was held in Jordan, Al-Madani presented a comprehensive and detailed report on the Israeli violations of the Palestinian environment, appreciating the role of the committee in its important work in documenting Israeli violations.


The report included violations related to attacking agricultural lands, forests, and forests by burning and razing, and violations related to turning Palestinian lands into a landfill for Israeli waste.


The report touched on settlement industrial zones, especially those that the occupation authorities intend to establish in the Palestinian territories, violations of control over areas and natural reserves, assaults on springs and water springs, either by control or sabotage and pollution, violations related to settlement wastewater, violations of theft of Palestinian stone and sand, violations of the Dead Sea and theft of natural resources and exposure to drought.


The report focused on the garbage dump in the town of Rantis, west of Ramallah, and the violations related to the failure of the Palestinian institution to establish environmental infrastructure facilities such as waste water treatment plants, landfills, and transfer stations, and the failure to enable law enforcement agencies to reach the sites of environmental violations.


In turn, the Chairman of the Committee appreciated the role of the Environmental Quality Authority in presenting a comprehensive and detailed report on Israeli violations of the Palestinian environment, indicating that he had received data, information and facts that are very important to the work of the Committee and the report that the Committee is preparing.


The Chairman of the Committee thanked the Environmental Quality Authority for this constructive cooperation with the Committee, indicating that what came in the report is a warning of a real danger that threatens life in the Palestinian territories, exposes human rights there to direct danger, nullifies opportunities for sustainable development, and prevents the achievement of its goals.
