Beirut - (dpa) - The Saudi ambassador to Lebanon, Walid Bukhari, affirmed that his country is performing its duties towards Lebanon without discrimination between one sect and another.

According to the "National News Agency" today, Wednesday, Ambassador Bukhari held the signing ceremony of the framework memorandum of understanding (the Saudi-French Fund for the Support of the Lebanese People) yesterday evening, Tuesday, in Beirut, in the presence of the French Ambassador, Anne Griot, and a large number of political, diplomatic, economic, academic, social and media personalities.

In a speech after signing the framework memorandum of understanding, Ambassador Bukhari said, "This partnership aims to support humanitarian and relief work in Lebanon with the highest standard of transparency, as the funding aims to support key sectors, namely food security, health and education, energy and water, and internal security." ".

He added, "We perform our duties towards Lebanon without discrimination between one sect and another, as Saudi Arabia has devoted distinguished efforts full of giving and the human spirit that values the value of the human being."

He pointed out that "Saudi Arabia has implemented many humanitarian projects in Lebanon, and that this support comes as a continuation and continuity of support during the past decades, as the Kingdom, with its partners, was keen to support everything that alleviates the human suffering of those in need."

In her turn, Ambassador Grio called on the Lebanese authorities to "assume responsibility and take the required decisions for the benefit of the Lebanese people," noting that they celebrate the partnership with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in order to provide direct and tangible assistance to the Lebanese people, in the financial, social, economic, living, health and food fields. And humanity.

She added, "This partnership between France and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia aims to quickly support humanitarian projects for the Lebanese people. This assistance will be clear and bear titles of solidarity and trust between France and the Kingdom, and expresses the depth of the ties between these two countries and Lebanon."
